Artists Dodie Eisenhauer and Jenny Turner are a mother and daughter artist team who have turned their shared heritage and creativity into wearable art and functional decor. From 1989, when Dodie first began tinkering with wire mesh and springy coils, to 2010, when Jenny introduced a jewelry line, to today, Village Designs has continued to create fresh, unique and handmade wire pieces enjoyed acros
s the country. The Springerlee Collection unites the springy wire designs with jewelry, creating wearable wire art as necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings in bright and bold color combinations or in traditional neutral metals. Although it perfectly describes the product line, the name is similar to springerle, a traditional German cookie created with intricate molds and detail. The Village Designs workshop is located in Dodie and Jenny’s hometown of Daisy, Missouri, population 60, where the family has lived for more than 100 years. Each Springerlee piece is named after special family members and neighbors from their past and present. Village Designs’ jewelry and decor are available online for retail and wholesale sales, as well as at select galleries, museum shops, fine boutiques and arts and craft fairs. Eisenhauer — From German, an occupational name for a worker in iron (metal)
Turner — From English and Scottish, an occupational name for a maker of objects of wood, metal, or bone
Springerle — a traditional German Christmas cookie embossed with intricate designs
A seasonal Christmas store is next door to the workshop in Jenny's great grandmother’s 100-year-old house in Daisy, Missouri. Christmas at Grandma’s House started as a retail space for their own wire art, but now carries work from 40 other artists.
