I have the immense privilege to have dear and trusted decades-old friendships. It’s a cornerstone of my house of cards, a pillar as strong as they come. I know not everyone has the same gift in their life. I know not everyone experiences the common denominator of childhood memories and awkward teen-ship and young-adult-ish chaos to ride the storm together into the real heavy lifting of actual adulthood. Because life can be very unpredictable and sometimes it will break your heart. It will challenge your deepest held convictions. It can make you feel alone. And so when the house of cards feels like something you can’t bet on, shaky and unbalanced…You remember that you have aces, and super glue.

These are my OG Aces. We snuck away this weekend to the Oregon coast for a quick vacation together for fresh air, ocean walks, belly laughs, and candy for dinner. It was exactly what we wanted. It was exactly what I needed. I’m so g dang lucky we did. Oregon, you are a slice of green and blue cake! Yum!

April so far: Van Gogh color palettes, baby lilac buds & biggie Sapphires, garden variety detritus, and FRESH AF CASTINGS! I got the kiln running and the furnace hot this week in the garage casting studio for the first time this year, carved me up a buncha bands, tree-d ‘em up, and all went SO WELL! I am getting the hang of this new process, I’m delighted with the results, and I’m hoping to offer up some delicious chonker rings soon. The texture is just *chefs kiss* a metalsmiths dream come true!

Pink Moon things: A February hike that burns a hole in my brain every time I look back on Winter. A naughty dog who charms me daily, who could care less about metal things even when I tell him it’s a treat. And joyful bits of being an auntie, metalsmith, occasional heavy machinery operator, and partner to the family of persons and peoples held dear, who are a delightful and ambitious bag of nuts. It’s been a long time to this time. A bright chapter ahead, I can feel it! Happy April First, a fools Day for foolery, and a beautiful Pink Moon in POWER. 💅🌝

It is a glorious SPRING day in and out of the studio, in and out of the weather, in and out of the garden. These lil’ Labradorite and Montana Agate babes are the very last of the bunch of treasures from the Spring Equinox drop! Grab ‘em before they go find themselves in my own collection of baubles for the season, and Cheers to the last day of March! May your lamps be lit, your gloves near, and your beer cold!

Seeds of Change - March 2026 - A pendant necklace, and some tender words on what that means to me this March. In the shop just now and on the blog, too.

Sonoran Turquoise ‘petals’ and sand casted bloom on 24” chain. OOAK for Spring 2026.

Here’s a snippet:

What is the saying about March? I think it was Sylvia Plath.

‘In March, I’ll be rested, caught up, and human.”

This season could not ring more true, Miss Plath.

For a long time, and for a fair bit of the winter, I’ve been feeling this rumbling of change in my work. A long time coming, since now will be my 16th year at the bench. I think, as all teenagers do, that there comes a time when who you want to be and who you are now feel wildly disconnected. Like two people, sometimes. It’s not without a bit of teenage angst I plowed my way through this winter, failing so many times at so many new things behind these digital curtains, letting go of familiar patterns, and felt my hand forced to some hard conversations with people I love, and people I don’t. I’ve been really trying hard to be a better artist and metalsmith, a better daughter and sister and friend. I’ve been really trying to show up as the woman I know I have the guts to show up as, but the truth is. It’s hard to suck. I

Just three little treasures left! These harbingers of SPRING are sure to make those daffodils bloom, make ya bust out those garden gloves, and run to the nearest hardware store for a fresh set of pruners and seed packets!

I can’t wait to get into the dirrrrrt.
Ride it. Bike it. Be covered in it.
Muddd season! Haaaaaaalelujiaaa!

Holy moly friends! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for the wild support and love for this lil’ pile of work this Spring! It’s almost all gone, kinda like the snow in town! What a crazy week it’s been, with storms and sun all at once, it feels like last weeks powder day was a different lifetime ago! Please enjoy the crunching of my boots in porch snow and birds freaking out in the trees when I took these little clips. Labradorite longies are still available, and a very few other harbingers of spring too.

The Walk: a poem I wrote and revisited recently upon hearing a sweet internet friend read ond of hers aloud this week, and it had me teary. The solstice is such a powerful reminder that the light is our responsibility, and a gift. Here’s a snippet of a re-write l like of this one from 2023:

The Walk

I wanted to embody spring

but the snow kept coming.

The sun kept hiding and

I couldn’t wait for green.

So I made my own verdant way

in a shouting mess of sun-backed snowflakes

to a corner of yard that begged no pomp or parade.

In the whip of a windy afternoon,

I asked birch of her branches

how to find depth in different shades of brown.

I asked birds of loud noises

how to sing falsetto.

I tried to look at what would come of a day where

the sun would stop hiding her face.

Mine, tender and tired, forces a walk to higher ground.

This old coat of down and a woolen pair of mittens

keeps my husk in layers.

Unfurling now seems like an act of perdition.

I remember that Spring promises

and melts, all in one breath.

I find my pulse quicken, oddly overtaken

as this fat wetness slaps my cheeks

and rude Magpies curse and caww at my presence.

Salty brims of eyelashes mix with the extra of this miniature squall,

And I let it. For what is surrender without release?

To bend and not break, as they say.

I turn back towards the warm

of my glowing winter home,

knee-high boots clonk clonking,

I stomp back through hot streaks of evening sunshine,

trying to forget my heated and unsung song on the hill.

The wind whips. And my breath slows once again.

I approach the heavy door and the few steps inside.

In the distance, a neighbor dog tells me his stories.

A crow beckons his mate to a roadside kill.

Winter-fed deer weave skinny shadows across the horizon.

Not here. Not yet. But soon.

One strangely lit flurry at a time.

One sunshine slog in March,

A tune is born from salt.

Montana is in her classic March mooooood today: Sunny snow-slop, mud and ice, blue sky mostly, with a chance of AGATE! I got some biiiig danglers for you, and many more odes to a lighter season upcoming for a SPRING EQUINOX DROP coming Friday 3/21! Thankathalawdbabyjeebus it’s almost there: Both the season AND the work.

In all her sloppy muddy snowstorms and self doubt, SPRING in MONTANA will keep you on your toes, and in 45 different coats by the end of the day. I like the idea of this kind of chaos. I can embrace the not-knowing-who-she-is-at-a-moments-notice chaos of a good roaring Spring. I’ve been holding these Merlin Agates and many other pieces close to my chest for the last month, not sure if they were ‘done enough’. Which any artist would say is a very important thing to sit with. And also. A very important thing to part with. I am happy to report: I like these. They will stay. You can snag them on Friday. Alongside more chaotic choices , dangles, muddy roads, and seeds not yet sprouted! 😂🥹🙆‍♀️❄️
