Magical Cuff

What a stunner! That main opal is a show stopper in person. The pin fire is off the charts and incredibly colorful.

Just finished making the video on this entire piece. Now to do voice over and we'll have another Flat Back tutorial complete.

Tips and tricks below👇

The Barrel Coil is always a beautiful addition to any piece. The thick 4 wire core allows for a lovely smooth coil that's pleasing to the eye.

This coil has 4×26g round wires that are wrapped in 30g round. This process is time staking because in order to get it nice and tight, you have to take your time. A single coil can take seconds with a drill, but in order to keep this 4 core coil tight, theres a constant steps of squishing the wires together and smashing the 30g tight to the 4 core.

Tips and tricks:
1. Take your time. The tighter you keep your coiling, the cleaner and more appealing the end coil will look.
2. Use a bread bag clip if your fingers get fatigued! This clip (the red clip on the left) will save your wrists and fingers. The clip clamps down on the wires and keeps them together, and enables you to rotate the wires without the constant squeezing of your fingers.
3. A bit of blue painters tape at the ends keeps the 4 wires in formation. This makes the coiling process much easier.
4. While coiling the 4 core over the the main wire, there's a slight rotation and twist to keep it flat against the main core wire. The 4 core can easily become misshapen and can look funky without the slight twist.

Wires used:
4×26g round wrapped in 30g round
*you can use 2-4× core wires to achieve similar looks
21g round main core wire.
