Tomorrow is my first shop update in quite awhile! These amethyst earrings will be available, along with quite a few other pieces that I've been posting about (and not posting about) over the last two weeks.

What I love about these, other than the light shining through the cluster and the view of the stone's layers, is that they're not the same. I really appreciate asymmetry. I think it can really make things more interesting, and when you're working with materials from nature, often times that's what you get.

I've had these moss agate cabochons for years, no exaggeration. I would pick them up, admire them, and be undecided about how to use them. With gemstones that I really admire, (and especially if they're more expensive), I always have a little fear about making something with them. What if I can't make something that does them justice, that lets the stone shine? What if I break them or ruin them?

With moss agate, I really love to leave the front and back of the stone uncovered, because the beauty of the stone really shows when light can pass through it. (Which, yeah, I'm not showing you very well in these pics, I know.) Electroforming just that thin little sliver of copper all around the stone allows the stone to be the focal point, and pairing them with the little hawthorns adds a natural elegance, I think.

I opted for shorter chains on these Moondrop earrings, as I've heard feedback at markets where I've had the original ones, that they may be a little long for a lot of people. These earrings also have little garnet beads attached to four of the chains.

I like making jewelry that I feel like you would see in a fantasy movie. Can't you picture a little Gelfing from The Dark Crystal, or maybe an elf from LoTR wearing something like this? The opalite can have such an ethereal glow to it. It may just be glass, but come on, it is cool. I don't know what kind of twigs those are that I used; I picked them up in my yard.

I've used acorns and acorn caps in my jewelry many ways over the years, but this is the first time I've used them like this: hollow on the underside, dangling a little quartz. I love when earrings have movement. I was just recently replaying Breath of the Wild and Impa's hat, with the little dangly things, reminded me of these earrings, kinda. IYKYK lol

I saw a poppy for the first time a couple of years ago. On my daily walk, passing by neighbors' yards, I kept watch as with the passing of time, the flowers emerged from their pods. I think they're one of the coolest looking flowering plants. I foraged some little pods from my neighbor's plants (with permission, of course) and made these earrings. Last fall I found these leaf stem twiggy things all over my yard which kind of reminded me of bones. I believe they came from the velvet ash tree in my backyard.

I gathered a few with the plans to make some type of jewelry with them. These earrings are the first creation I made using them. I attached the amethysts to the part of the stem that I believe attaches to the tree, filled in the gaps with Apoxie sculpt, and electroformed it.

They’re not the exact same length, which I love. Why should they be the same?
