لما بنتكلم عن أشهر مصادر الياقوت الأزرق، اللون والمنشأ ممكن يكون لهم تأثير كبير على قيمة الحجر.

الياقوت الأزرق السيلاني، القادم من سريلانكا، معروف بدرجات الأزرق الحيوية والمشرقة، وغالبًا بمظهر مشرق ومليء بالحياة.

أما الياقوت الأزرق من كشمير، فهو مشهور بدرجته الزرقاء المخملية المميزة وندرته الاستثنائية، ولذلك فإن أجود أحجاره التاريخية وصلت إلى أسعار استثنائية.
