I introduce to you...THE BEAST!!! This particular Beast is a 25th anniversary model because it features the blue rubber-clad pushpieces and screw-locked crown. This tribute model was released in 2017 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Royal Oak Offshore collection.

This watch closely follows the 1993 models with some modern upgrades. Along with the signature "petite" blue tapisserie design this watch features a date, white gold hour markets, chronograph sub dials (12 o'clock: 60-second counter (small seconds), 9 o'clock: 30-minute counter, and at 6 o'clock: 12-hour counter), and lastly a Tachymeter scale that is the blue inner fl**ge around the rim of the dial to measure speed over distance.

As a watch dealer I look at watches all day and this is always an AP that catches my eye.

I present the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M (Ref: 231.10.44.50.01.001). This recently serviced 44mm features a black Teak Concept dial. The unique dial texture ensures this timepiece stands out, as light continuously plays across its surface for a dynamic and refined look.

This watch features an exhibition case back and chronograph function (sub-dials for 12 hours, 30 minutes, and small seconds) and a date window located between 4 and 5 o'clock.

As a watch dealer and former engineer I will admit that I like something different than most people. Ulysse Nardin Freak X Ti Black (Ref. 2303-270) certainly checks that box and is mesmerizing to watch run. This bridges an avant-garde “no-dial” carousel movement to a lightweight titanium black watch. That case utilizes Titanium with Black DLC for that matt black finish.

The movement itself rotates around the dial every hour with the central bridge of the movement acting as the minute hand. The UN-230 provides a 72 hour power reserve and the addition of the crown for easier setting and winding, different from older models.

In 2001, putting silicon in a watch was considered insane. It was an aerospace and computer-chip material. Because silicon can be carved with microscopic precision and is naturally frictionless, the Freak proved that mechanical watches didn't need wet, messy lubricants and oils that dry up over time. High-end brands like Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Omega watched what Ulysse Nardin did, realized it was the future, and scrambled to copy them. Today, almost every high-end luxury watch uses silicon hairsprings and escape wheels directly because of this exact watch line.

Nicknamed The Blue Smurf this Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Diver (ref. 263-36) is one of the most comfortable watches in the world to wear. There were 1846 pieces made to honor the brands founding year.

It has a signature blue wave pattern on it's dial as well as the date and, my personal favorite, a power reserve indicator for it's 42-hour reserve. It's dressy but sporty all at the same time with all of the textures it has built into the watch. I love a brand that constantly pushes the envelope of horology with not only their movements but all the materials they manufacture their watches with.

As a watch dealer and former engineer I will admit that I like something different than most people. This Zenith Defy El Primero 21 checks that box and then some. I naturally appreciate any skeletonized dial or open caseback and this has that in spades. This titanium case is both beautiful, comfortable, and lightweight.

The most innovative feature of this movement is it's "double-heart architecture". It features two independent escapements that operate at completely different speeds. While most watches beat at 4 or 5 Hz the seper is the ability to measure 1/100th of a second and the fact that the chronograph has it’s own system with it’s own gear trains, balance wheel, mainsprings, and something really unique is it’s own power reserve indicator.

This "double-chain" architecture is necessary because the chronograph and the main timekeeping functions have very different energy needs. The 50 Hz Chronograph spins so fast that when you engage it and put it to your ear you can hear it hum. It also gets wound both ways. Clockwise winds the chronograph and you can watch the power reserve climb as you wind it...counter-clockwise winds the timekeeping mainspring manually, which is also handled by wearing the watch and allow the automatic rotor to wind the watch.

This watch also has different materials besides the case. Zenith uses a Carbon-Matrix Carbon Nanotube composite for the hairsprings which is light, strong, and resistant to magnetism.

This is an amazing piece of horology with a skeletonized dial that let you actually view the technology in the watch. It's amazing they put so much into the watch but the titanium case makes it wear and light and comfortable.

May I present the instantly recognizable "Half Brick" Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph in solid 18 karat Rose Gold.
Walk thru a crowd and most watches go unnoticed but not this one.

The rose gold is stunning, the octagonal shape with the aligned screws, the Tapisserie pattern, and chronograph make this an iconic piece. It's an AP thru and thru.
