“These images are part of a personal travel diary shot over different years, documenting Casa-Museu Salvador Dalí in the Catalan fishing village of Cadaqués.

There is a materiality and rawness in these film images that I feel very aligned with—quite unintentional and with a timeless feeling.”

“The series was shot on a 35mm film camera, a Canon AE-1 Program, using a macro lens that allowed me to get close to the watches, capturing the details with a soft focus in the background. There was also manipulation done through scanning, collage, and pairing of the images.”

“The nature of this project was quite unique for me. I usually work with a larger creative team, directing and creating the set. For this one, it was just myself, shooting over two days around the house and following the light through the space. There was a lot of creative freedom and play, and I embraced the limitations that a solo shoot has.

As a kind of ritualistic action, every time I started photographing a piece, the watch was set to the actual time, so the images document the exact hour they were taken.”

“The series includes two archival photographs that expand the concept of time. One presents a sundial object that dates back to the 17th century; the second image portrays the artwork Untitled (Perfect Lovers) (1987–1990) by Félix González-Torres, who installed two identical, mass-produced clocks next to each other, initially set to the same time until they fell out of sync.”

“I am naturally drawn to neutral colours and shapes, so intuition played a significant role in selecting the watch designs for this series. During the shoot, I explored materiality and combinations with the interchangeable straps. Two of my favourite pairings were the Logo Gold with the raw edges of the books, and the Dome Gold with the croc grain strap, featured alongside a classic white shirt.”
