It feels illegal to know this, butā€¦

Most hand-dyed yarn shops are one person, in a kitchen, with a day job.

The ā€œstudioā€ is a hot plate and a prayer.

Thatā€™s me.

Red Truck Fiber Co. is one person (hi šŸ‘‹), a bunch of pot and pans, and a whole lot of evenings and weekends.

When you buy a skein from a small dyer, youā€™re not just buying yarn.

Youā€™re buying someoneā€™s lunch break.

Their Saturday morning.

And late nights.

And honestly? Thatā€™s the best part.

The most unhinged thing Iā€™ve done as a hand dyer to convince strangers to love my yarn?

Mail them yarn.

For free.

With a smile.

Iā€™m constantly dyeing up 20g mini skeins for testing out colors and I love giving them to people who have never tried my yarn before. The minis are on me, you just need to cover the shipping costs.

Is it good business? Debatable.

Is it the best way I know to say thank you for trusting me with your project? Absolutely.
