On September 29, 1962 my uncle William “Bee” was born. My uncle was a quiet man. He was tall. He was thin. He was strong. He was kind. He was HILARIOUS. He was loving. He never met a stranger. He made you feel welcomed. And he also never had a problem telling you to get the hell out. Did I mention he was funny? Lol… Uncle Bee was everyone’s uncle. My friends. My cousins friends. Neighborhood kids. Every one knew Bee. But no one knew him how I knew him. He was my father when I needed one. He was my best friend. He let me do just about anything I wanted. He spoiled me. He loved me. He really loved me with no conditions. I always told him I was the best birthday present he could have ever gotten. We balanced each other out…. I lost my uncle in 2018. It still doesn’t seem real. Every single day I look at his obituary hanging on my fridge door and still… it doesn’t seem real. Or fair. I turned 40 years old four days ago. Today… my Uncle would have been 60. Such a magical age. My heart breaks knowing he didn’t reach it. So much has happened in my life since he’s been gone. And the most important to me (besides the birth of my nieces and nephews since) is the birth of Bee & Honey Co. All I’ve ever wanted to do in this life was make my Uncle Bee proud. It’s my hope that he sees me trying my absolute best. If not for me… definitely for him. Unc.. today… with tears choking me… I celebrate you. May you always feel my love and respect for you in the ancestral realm. Happy 60th Birthday Old Man… xo Tash… ❤️
