Happy World Cocktail Day!

For me, nothing beats a good Old Fashioned. I never thought I would regularly use an Old Fashioned syrup, but the folks over at Strongwater have done it right. I do add a few extra dashes of Orange Bitters, and today I used this fantastic North Carolina Straight Rye Whiskey from the super folks over at Oaklore Distilling in Matthews, NC.

I think I will call today Maniacal Monday. That’s what I get when pouring nearly 135 proof Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye into the glass that just had Laphroaig Cairdeas in it (without rinsing it); MANIACAL!!

Enormous, bold, in your face JD Rye, with not-so-subtle notes of smoke, phenols, and that classic Laphroaig peaty funk!!
