White Feather's Daughters

White Feather's Daughters We are three proud daughters of our mother, the beautiful Waawaasgoneh-kwe, or Rita Gasco-Shepard. Rita had the first white feather dream.

She believed a life of beauty could come from anywhere and we strive to honor that vision in our life and art. White Feather’s Daughters is pleased to offer you traditional Native American artwork. Our offerings are as varied and distinctive as our personalities. Within our shop you’ll find anything from Anishinaabe beaded jewelry to hand crafted Native American hand drums; from baby moccasins to

dream catchers. So grab a cup of coffee and take a few moments to browse our page. We hope you enjoy the variety offered as much as we enjoyed creating it. Anything posted here can be found for sale on our site at http://whitefeathersdaughters.com.

To date, we have only sold our beadwork at a craft show or powwow. After some discussion, we have decided to try something different. Depending on how this goes, we plan to post one medallion a week which will be available for sale. If you are interested, please DM me privately for price.

Below is a picture of a medallion made by Regina (Gina) Brubacker-Carver.

It is named "Remembrance" and is a 3-dimensional poppy in an ombre blue background. Size is 2.75" x 2.25" made with size 15 true-cut Czech glass beads. The necklace is 23" and made of glass and crystal beads.

Gina and I adopted new puppies!! Poppy and Luna. They are litter mate yorkies and a handful, so our crafting time has taken a hit. But they are so adorable we can’t help but love them. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing poppy and Luna.

This week I have been working on another Mackinac Bridge. This one will find a home at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. The museum is currently revamping their Native American exhibit with a target date of reopening next fall. My sisters and I each will have something presented as part of the exhibit. I (Stella) will have this Mackinac Bridge, Regina made a ribbon shirt and a cabochon medallion, and Vicki will have one of her lily leaf baskets as an example of how Native Americans use their traditional craft techniques with more modern materials.

We are very honored to be included in this upcoming exhibit.

I, Stella, have been working on hats to fill orders. I have made 5 so far and more than ready to put them aside for a while. Variety is the spice of life.

My sister, Regina, and I finally made it back from New Jersey and I am delighted to report that my brother Harvey/Joe came back with us. Of course this is primarily so his three big sisters can monitor his rehab. Once the baby, always the baby. Anyway, I expect we will now be productive again. Last night I harvested the sweet grass I have been growing in my yard. My house smells absolutely amazing.

I apologize for not posting for a couple weeks. We had a family emergency and one of my sisters and I are currently in New Jersey. I haven’t been able to work on anything exciting but Regina has been making beaded medallions with a woodland flower design using size 15 true cuts and charlottes. We also managed to visit a bead store in Denville NJ called “That Bead Store” we would both highly recommend. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Hopefully we will be back home and beading up a storm next week. In the meantime here are pictures of what Regina has worked on while here

Had a great time at the Tunnel of Trees Art Trail. It was a wonderful event where we were able to share our passion for our Native American culture. We made many new friends and had a chance to visit with old friends as well. This is probably one of my favorite events in which to participate.
