Wild Gourd Studio newest projects!

Making something new....
So many times on my travels, I needed a small Art Travel Journal, something to write in, sketch in or even to do a small watercolor.
I have made a little blank paged journal with my artwork on the cover, twelve watercolor pages and the size of a greeting card. Could be carried in your purse or backpack. I like that it's not overwhelming and cumbersome.

I wrote on my personal page about my passion for blank writing journals and how they are often started and rarely finished and how they get lost somehow.
But you must know the same thing happens to me in the studio. I will buy journals, thinking I can practice an art idea before putting on canvas. Often the journal will be stored away when cleaning and then forgotten. And then I am inspired by a new blank paged book and start working in it. Then it gets put aside and so it goes.
One day a year ago I began a deeper clean in the studio and found six art journals in various stages of work. None finished and some of the art is questionable! LOL
I did learn a lesson, not all journals are "art" worthy. Some books are not suited for paint, marker or watercolor attempts.
Bleeding through was common, sometimes pages stick together and it caused some frustration and solutions. (Which become a lesson learned.)
I decided to finish all six art journals and give one to each of my grandchildren.
I am slowly closing in on my goal and as I look through the pages I am reminded of things that inspired me and lessons in watercolor I experimented with. It is/was a labor of love.

This past Sunday, my daughter and I cleaned out my gourd storage room. She seriously thinks I'm a hoarder. I have an amazing collection of gourds waiting for artwork. I have half finished projects and I have saved tops of gourds that became vessels with no lids. She sees the beginning if a great bonfire and I see the roof to Wren houses or witches hats, or maybe even mushrooms! Today, I am searching my way through this pile and starting some new gourds projects! Keep your eyes open for finished projects!

New canvas, as usual, the colors in real time is much more beautiful. I hope to finish this and take it to Village Artisans on Thursday.
