Finished this spread highlighting some of the many flowers blooming in May... featured prairies/native plant gardens were Laura Bush Native Texas Park, Overton Ridge Park, Tandy Hills Natural Area, and Flower Mound prairie.

Am tackling this spread a bit differently than I normally do and noticed it had all the stages of the drawing parts and thought you all might be interested in seeing it. Normally I draw the plant either during a visit, or shortly afterwards and work my way across the spread from left to right. However, this time I visited 5 prairies/native gardens in 5 days and didn't have time to do that. May is like that in Texas! I had to go through hundreds of photos and decide which plants tell the story of my visits. Some overlap and are found in several sites. I roughed it in, then detailed it in pencil since there were many complicated flowers, and then inked it in. Once that's done, I'll decide how to watercolor it... Enjoy!
