Bee City Studio Bee City Studio ~ Made-by-hand jewelry you'll love! ~ Earrings, bracelets, necklaces and more! I enjoy learning new things and growing as a person.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cat lady, dog owner, and Christian woman. For over 25 years I worked in healthcare, but have retired to pursue my passion for jewelry design. Sound emotional health is important to me, and I find solace in the process of creating.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RELAUNCHING OF MY WEBSITE!

Over the summer I have been working on a new web design for www.beecitystudio.com that better meets my objectives: less of a selling venue and more of an explanation about how I developed as a jewelry designer and some of my processes.

My site is no longer an e-commerce site. It does, however, link to the places where I sell my jewelry and showcases the awesome places that carry my work.

Everyone knows how to navigate a website, but for simplicity's sake, the homepage talks about how I got started and why I chose my name with a nod to my hometown. You will find where I sell my work under it's own tab.

Under the "Heart of the Hive" section there several subsections, some with resources, information on my specific processes, and FAQs (labelled curiosities). If you like the steady pace of a blog, I've created an "Studio Journal" section where I post "moments, musings and discoveries." I just started this in June, and have had a couple of timing set-backs due to health, but I do plan on some consistency here, so you may want to check in once in a while. I will start calling out new posts in my VIP group, which I have also linked on some pages at the bottom, should you care to join.

In the "Studio Journal" right now, I'm documenting my learning about gemstone families - boring to some, I know - but I have been using them in my designs for years, not really understanding their properties or mineral families, just using them for their texture, color, or opacity to enhance a design. (Scroll down past the humorous introduction of my "staff," and you will see a table of contents so you can pick and choose articles you might want to read.) If you never thought mineral learning could be dramatic, visit the link "A Deeper Dive: Gemstones & Crystals," as I share a guilty pleasure short from the internet created by UK gem and mineral experts, Saltshack.

Full disclaimer, I am using AI to catalog the information I have learned on the gemstone families to create a pictorial chart (field guide) for reference for myself. If you are adverse to AI, you can skip these, but for me they were a necessity for this personal cataloging project.

Short story long, you are invited to step into the studio. Even if just once you visit to see how this 20+year hobby-business developed, I appreciate your interest. ❀️

On the website there are links to my Etsy Shop at the bottom of select pages, however right now it's on a little vacay for the summer, but I will be refreshing listings and posting items all throughout mid-August through the end of September. As gift-giving season approaches, I hope you might consider a visit there, or to one of the fabulous shops that carry my work. I know they would appreciate it, too! 🐝 Got something in mind? I can create something especially for you! Just private message me!

Hey friends! 🐝 I've been thinking about offering small jewelry-making classes, and I'd love to hear who might be interested.

Classes would be limited to just 6 people, making them relaxed, hands-on, and perfect for asking questions and learning at your own pace.

Whether you've never made jewelry before or you're ready to learn more advanced techniques, I'd love to offer classes for a variety of skill levels.

The classes would be around 2 hours and cost $25–$35, plus a small materials kit ($3–$15, depending on the project). I'll provide all the tools you'll need, along with the basic findings (the metal components used to assemble jewelry).

Your "kit" would include the beads, charms, leather, or other specialty materials needed for that particular project.

Best of all, you'll leave with 2–3 handmade pieces of jewelry that you created yourself, perfect for keeping for yourself or giving as gifts!

Before I start planning, I'd love to know... Is this something you'd be interested in? If so, let me know whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience. Your feedback will help me decide what kinds of classes to offer first!

If we do this, the first one would likely be in late September, or early October. While I personally love to make earrings, these classes will allow you to learn techniques to make necklaces, bracelets or earrings.

Chime in here, and give me your thoughts below! πŸ’›πŸ§‘πŸ€Ž
