I suppose we've reached the point in our relationship where I should confess something.
I love dark romance.
And apparently my standards for fictional men and my standards for actual human behavior live in two completely different zip codes. 😂

On paper?
Morally gray. Possessive. Questionable decision-making. Probably needs therapy. Possibly dangerous.

Me reading:
“Well...let's hear him out.”
Obviously, fiction is fiction—and that's exactly why I enjoy it.
Books give us a safe place to explore stories, characters and situations we'd have absolutely NO interest in experiencing in real life.
That's part of the fun.
And dark romance was one of the genres that helped shape the idea behind The Night Owl.

So I want to know:

If I'm building a bookshop around stories I love, I suppose I should tell you what kind of reader I actually am.
And the answer is pretty easy.
I'm a romance girl.
Give me tension. Give me chemistry. Give me the slow burn that takes approximately 400 pages longer than my patience can handle. 😂
And yes...I absolutely have a weakness for the darker side of romance.

But what I love most about romance isn't really the spice, the tropes or even the happily-ever-after.

It's the escape.
Life can be loud, stressful and sometimes just plain heavy.
Then you open a book and suddenly you're somewhere else.

You're rooting for people who don't exist. You're furious at a fictional man. You're saying “JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER” to two people made entirely of ink and paper.
And somehow it matters anyway.
That's what I want The Night Owl to celebrate.

Not one particular kind of romance. The feeling of getting completely lost in a story.
Although...the morally gray fictional men are definitely invited. 🖤😂

So now you know the story behind the name.

You've met the owl.
But I haven't really told you exactly what I'm building yet.
And the answer is actually...
two things. 🖤
The first is happening now.

The Night Owl is beginning online.

I'm starting small and intentionally—building a collection of books and bookish treasures that actually feel like they belong here.

Romance will always have a huge piece of my heart, especially the darker side of it, but I don't want someone to see The Night Owl and assume that's all they'll ever find.

There will be romance.
Dark romance.
Mystery.
Suspense.
Gothic stories.
Horror.
Blind Dates with a Book.
And little bookish treasures I've chosen along the way.
But then there's the SECOND part of this dream...
The bookshop.
A real one.
And definitely not a giant, bright, modern bookstore.

I'm talking about a small room filled with tall bookshelves, old furniture, antiques, warm amber lighting, dark colors, vintage frames, hidden little details and books tucked everywhere they can possibly fit.
The kind of place where you walk through the door and feel like you accidentally stepped out of 2026 for awhile.

That's the dream.
And the crazy part is...
the room already exists.
It just doesn't look like The Night Owl yet. 😉
You'll be seeing plenty of that transformation here, too.
So we're doing this a little differently.
I'm not disappearing for a year and coming back when everything is beautiful and finished.

You're coming with me while I build it.
The online shop.
The products.
The books.
The mistakes.
The decisions.
And eventually...
the little bookshop I've had living inside my head.

Yesterday I told you why I chose the name.
Today, I finally get to introduce you to the owl himself. 🦉🖤

Meet The Night Owl.

When I started imagining what this brand should look like, I knew I didn't want something that simply said "bookstore."
I wanted it to feel like it belonged somewhere else entirely.
Like something embossed into the cover of an old leather-bound book...
Or painted on a sign hanging outside a tiny bookshop you accidentally discovered down a cobblestone street.
A little dark.
A little romantic.
A little mysterious.
And very, very old-world.
Every part of this design was chosen for a reason.
The owl perched on his books.
The rose.
The purple glasses.
The deep teal, plum and antique metal tones.
The old-world lettering.

Even the tiniest details were meant to make The Night Owl feel like a place with a story before the doors ever open.
And someday?
I hope to stand outside the finished bookshop and see The Night Owl hanging above the door.
But today, I'm pretty excited just to finally introduce him to you.
So, Night Owl Society...

I suppose the best place to begin this story is with the name.
Why The Night Owl?
I've always been a night reader. There's something about the world getting quiet, everyone else going to sleep, and finally having the chance to disappear into another story.
Especially when that story happens to be a dark romance and "one more chapter" somehow turns into five......
Then suddenly it's 2 a.m. and I'm questioning every decision I've made that evening. 😆 Anyone else do this?

But there's another reason the owl means so much to me. My dad collected owls throughout all his life. After he passed away, those owls became more than something he collected. They became little reminders of him and memories I get to carry with me.
So when I started dreaming about what this bookshop could become, the name didn't really feel like something I had to search for.
Somewhere between my late-night reading, my love for romance and mysterious old things, and the memories connected to my dad.... The Night Owl was already part of my story.
And now I get to find out what it's next chapter will become.
So since we're starting at the beginning, I want to know something about you too:
Is there an object, place or little thing that instantly reminds you or someone you love?
I'd genuinely love to hear the story behind it.💗

Something exciting is taking shape...

For months I've been dreaming, planning, collecting, and building something that's incredibly close to my heart.

I'm so excited to finally begin sharing The Night Owl—a bookshop inspired by vintage libraries, hidden treasures, and the stories that keep us reading long after midnight.

This is just the beginning, and I can't wait to take you along on the journey.

Stay tuned for additional information as we just finished demo projects and will start building soon. Watch for the online store as well it'll be here before you know it!
