Today, on Mother’s Day, I keep thinking about the incredible women who sat around my table this week.

I hosted a luncheon in my home for a group of Holocaust survivors, and it was such an honor and privilege to listen to their stories, wisdom, and reflections on life.

At different moments throughout the afternoon, I asked them what message they would want younger generations to carry forward.

One spoke about the lessons her mother taught her in life.
Another said to honor your mother and father.
Another spoke about peace in the world.

Different words. Different lives. Yet somehow, every answer pointed back to the same thing:

Family.
Values.
Kindness.
Love.
Human connection.

After everything they endured, these were the things they held onto most.

Their words stayed with me deeply today.

Motherhood is so much more than a title. It’s the strength to carry generations forward. It’s love, sacrifice, resilience, tradition, and the quiet lessons that shape who we become.

To every mother, grandmother, mentor, and mother figure — thank you for all that you give to this world.

And to my own mother, thank you for shaping the woman I became.
