Bay Area; I've got two jewelry classes coming up that are perfect little tastes of jewelry making! Each of these classes lasts just a few hours on a single day, and you walk out with something wearable that you made yourself.

Viking Knit Bracelet -- Thursday, July 23, 6pm - 9pm
Knitters will find this oddly familiar... weave lengths of colorful wire on a dowel to create a light weight yet flashy bracelet. This is an easy skill to take home and keep experimenting with.

Sand Cast Pins -- Sunday, July 26, 10am - 2pm
We're turning cookies into pins! Wear your favorite snack on your shirt, after creating a bronze replica of it. Unlike lost wax casting, sand casting is a short, sweet, single-day process. (Please do not eat the supplies)

Last week I finished a project and then couldn't decide what to work on next!
So I shifted materials entirely and bought some wood.

Is it a great shelf? ✨Absolutely Not✨
But it'll serve the purpose I need,
And now the productivity block is gone :)

This Friday, July 10th I'll be in Redwood City, California, for Art on the Square, and this week is the ALL JEWELRY show. It runs 5pm - 830pm in the Courthouse Square.

Here are the detail shots of the necklace I was finishing up yesterday:
14" choker style made of sterling silver and aqua chalcedony. The fold clasp is more secure than magnets or toggles, but easier to open than tiny fiddly lobster clasps.

Of course now I'm having decision paralysis over what to make next 🙄🤪

I've been working on a new silver and stone bracelet that morphed itself into a necklace instead. More experimentation to find efficient ways of making very small square stone settings (tip: there aren't any, that's why no one uses very small square stones 🙄)

The necklace has landed at 14 inches and uses a fold-over clasp, which I love ♥️ and hope to make my own soon. It's going in the tumbler tonight, then tomorrow will be stone setting and final polish (assuming nothing catastrophic happens).

The earrings are done, they have clasping hooks. The rocks are 3mm aqua chalcedony, and they are just cloudy enough to disperse light and create a nice internal glow.

This chainmail pattern, Half-Persian 3-in-1, is still not my favorite but I'm awfully good at it now 😜

🦑 JJ made it on the flyer! 😸

Redwood City's Music on the Square series is a remarkably lovely piece of community entertainment. Its free, the people are nice, the tunes are jamming. Add to that the ART on the Square event, with artisans set up all around the courthouse square, so you can 🛒 shop while you 🕺 bop, and it makes for a lovely evening.

July 10th is Jewelry Week! ALL THE VENDORS WILL BE ART JEWELRY! (we are legion)
5pm - 8:30pm on Hamilton Ave at Redwood City's Courthouse Square.

So come on by if you can 😺

San Leandro Cherry Festival is this weekend!

Just blocks from San Leandro BART, so you don't even have to drive and park

It is always a great event. The weather is nice, there's a farmer's market -worth of different varieties of cherries, plus pie! and the usual good vibes of a town street festival.

I just finished teaching a weekend Metals and Jewelry I class at The Crucible ! Check out this display of student work. This was a really fun class, we loved everyone and hope they'll be back for another class soon.

Most of these students came in with zero jewelry making experience! (A few even claimed they aren't creative - ha!) Walk in with a willingness to listen, watch, and try; walk out with jewelry you made yourself.
