Matcha is fun, but it certainly does not taste like coffee.
Barley tea gets much closer. It has a nutty, toasty, bitter flavor, which makes it especially useful if you miss the taste and ritual of coffee while cutting back on caffeine.
You can keep it simple, turn it into an iced almond milk latte, or go in an entirely different direction and add roasted barley tea to homemade dark chocolate bark.
One practical note on the bark: the barley grains should crunch easily rather than feel hard, but it is still worth chewing carefully just in case you get a hard one.
Save this for later, or send it to a caffeine-free friend.
