Throwback picture of Sushi, my very favorite creature of my time in Uganda. Even though we went on gorilla treks, spent time with rhinos, giraffes, elephants, chimps, lions... everything you can imagine, the ShoeBill Stork was mesmerizing. I'd never even heard of one before and was so lucky to spend time with him. He would bow his head to us when we came in, we would bow back, and the chattering he made was amazing . His keeper Alphonse and I have remained great friends and I plan to go back to visit and volunteer at the rescue again.

Be still my heart.

I've done trainings at Children's Hospital LA and was honored to do the keynote at the pediatric oncology nurse Association. These men and women are heroes.

After the CHLA training I went to my car and sobbed for about a half an hour before I could drive. Seeing those little tiny kids up to teenagers walking through the hospital, bald holding an IV with giant smiles got me big time.

I love Candice. Candice loves me...and donuts.

I'm very fortunate that I've met many incredible people throughout my life. Some are for a season and some are for life. I had lunch today with one of my for life friends, Candice Sanders who amazes me, humbles me, and makes me so grateful we are friends. I met her probably 10 years ago when she hired me while working for the Wine Alliance. She was then diagnosed with cancer and made a complete job switch upon her recovery to work with the Cancer Support Community of the Central Coast. If you're a local in the county of San Luis it is an invaluable resource. She's the Executive Director and a total badass.

If you're looking for a place to donate, they will gladly take your money to help so many people on the Central Coast. It is astounding to me how many people I love, seven currently, who are fighting cancer.

We had lunch today and I presented her with a donut vase. 😊 Because why not?

I was honored to be the opening speaker at the WACE conference in Arizona this month - The Association of Chamber Executives. Super fun to meet new friends and to catch up with old friends. The group was amazing. I don't think I've ever spoke at a conference where 100% of the people I met were lovely. Also, first time I've been in Arizona where it wasn't 182°. Which might be a slight exaggeration but not completely.

My fabulous friend Jill went with me and we stayed a few extra days and were able to spend time with a couple of my friends: Donna and Sara from Ethiopia, Dave, one of my conference planner friends whom I adore, and to introduce my friend Brenda who was a conference planner in Washington and now is the CEO of the American Neurological Association (How badass is that?) to my friend Rena who works in elder abuse prevention for the state. I am surrounded by amazing friends who humble me. Making the world a better place. ❤️

Oh.. one more friend visit. My friend Steven, whom I've known for about a dozen years. He used to be an administrator for long-term care and now he is a tik tok influencer with 7 million followers. I'm not even on Tik Tok but apparently it's a thing. Have you heard of it? He did give me some fabulous under eye cream, that works like voodoo. I think he's sponsored by them? But I honestly really don't understand what's happening with this whole social media influencer thing. I have to say when we met so long ago I would have never thought I would have said the words "under eye cream" in the same sentence as Steven. 🤣 The best news is he hasn't changed a bit

When I have a neurology appointment I have to make the day fun. SO had a lovely lunch with my friend Donna who's 81 years young and a kick in the pants. Then I look over and see this woman and have to go over - she is fabulous. I told her she should be in New York City, not here. She had amazing shoes, gorgeous dress, hat lipstick ... everything. She's a recent cancer survivor and a total badass. Nancy, I adore you. ❤️

How about we all start telling strangers positive things. Don't make the compliments up, be real. You'll make someones day. AND your own. ❤️

One of my very, very favorite things is to feed the birds. The first picture is the number of small black birds in my magnolia tree waiting for me to put more seed out. The second picture is a different direction of other birds chirping for me to put the seed out. I go through at least 20 lb of bird seed a week, sometimes 40 and lots of peanuts for the scrub jays. Even my neighbors tell me they love the noise. 😁 Happiness level? 10

Second infusion of my migraine drug VYEPTI. It, combined with another drug and occipital nerve blocks are helping tremendously. Thank goodness for modern medicine. And the staff at Dignity Health Mission hope Cancer Center are freaking awesome.❤️
