I had a sweet visitor in the studio tonight!
Emma from (a fellow maker I met at Grapestomp this year) stopped by for a few silversmithing pointers. We worked through some of the early learning curve of getting started in silver—one torch burst and problem-solving moment at a time.
Silversmithing is an art form full of conflicting advice, borrowed tools, and multiple “right” ways to do nearly everything. With so much information out there, it can feel overwhelming to begin. But that’s also the magic of it: every step has options, every mistake teaches you something, and there are very few things you can truly ruin (…unless you melt it completely. Been there.)
The challenge, the troubleshooting, the tiny victories—that’s the part that hooks you. It’s always a process of learning and refinement, even years in.
All of this is the long-winded way to say: I’ve been dreaming about offering silversmithing classes for a while. I know firsthand how intimidating the barrier to entry can be, and I want to help bridge that.
I’m still in the early stages of building a curriculum, but before I officially launch anything, I have to know:
✨ Would YOU want to learn silversmithing? ✨
Let me know in the comments or DM me—your feedback shapes what I build next. 💛
