"I was tired of buying cheap jewelry from retailers that ended up tarnishing or breaking within a week of purchase." On a mission to ensure that no one has the same item as another, Fiona has begun a business which she hopes to turn into an ever growing ability to help women, men, teenagers, and children accessorize without having to see the same piece on another person. As a child, Fiona watched
hr Father, James Rhodes, create amazing Indian Styled jewelry out of his house. The pieces were delicately hand made and crafted to look similar to the Indian American style. He used all semi-precious and precious stones, leather, silver, feathers and made items from hat bands, chokers, bracelets, earrings, he even made a leather top. He soon let this small business deplete as he turned all of his attention to his children, work, and a soon small machine shop in his garage, thus letting the items sit untouched, until Fiona came along and started slowly taking pieces of stone beads and such to make her own jewelry. "I ensure that all items are of the highest quality and most unique style you'll find in any state or country." The start of the business in progress started last year in May when Fiona purchased some supplies and created her first work of art. (Later purchased by a friend, Krystina Monique Spork) Upon wearing this very simple yet elegant necklace to work one day, a woman offered to purchase the necklace stating "she'd never seen anything like it before and it was simply beautiful." This started the conversation with a former neighbor, Boo Culbertson, that Fiona should start creating more items, making them one of a kind, and trying to set them up for consignment. Shortly after, another necklace was created using some chain, charms, and a sparrow for the lead charm. After this piece, the idea slightly faltered with a heavy workload due to school, managing a retail store, and being a full time mom, then became just a conversation. Following the end of the seasonal management position and return to a small pizza shop in Fairlwan, OH, Fiona realized she had bigger dreams for herself and for her family and so spawned the start of Neon Unicorn Jewelry. The business obtained its name from a childhood love for Unicorns and sharing the same love of the mythical creature with her daughters, Vera and Athena. "From a small start with a big heart, I intend to push this further and get the business name and jewelry out to the public everywhere!!!"
