It’s been too long since we’ve held an Archive sale, so we’re hosting one this Saturday 4th April!

Join us between 10-4 at our Port Moresby Studio for discounts on a huge selection of seconds, samples, discontinued styles and one off pieces.

Sale will be while stocks last and all sales are final.

For our international community, we will carry the sale over to online if we have surplus pieces to share with you, so watch this space.

Hope to see you on Saturday so we can wish you a happy Easter in person ###

Given the enormity of inequity in Papua New Guinea, our impact is modest, but we believe it is simple; create secure, stable income streams for women with traditional skills, helping where we can.

Bilum & Bilas was established in 2013 to support female artisans with specific traditional skills, in a consistent and purposeful way.

Since then we have grown to a team of five full-time and three part-time staff, with an estimated network of over 100 female suppliers across four focus communities. We also support various local small scale producers of raw fibre that we use within our artwork.

Thank you for your ongoing support xx

We’ve been getting some serious love for our Ocean Explorer Mini Handbags.

Handwoven stories for the wanderers and those who carry the sea with them wherever they go.

Crafted in Papua New Guinea by our incredible artisans, this bag is inspired by functionality, but finished with sentiments of the tides and the reefs. Each piece is woven using traditional fibre techniques passed down through generations — featuring a star fish embellishment, a lid with a button closure and a wooden beaded handle for comfort, this bag is beautiful and meaningful, as well as practical.

Whether you’re exploring a new city, grabbing brunch, strolling markets, or attending a special event, the Ocean Explorer holds your essentials while honouring the hands and heritage behind it.

🌺 Ethical. Handcrafted. Full of story.

Salt-kissed and hand-woven, the Tropicool Bracelet carries the hush of the ocean and the rhythm of women’s hands.
Each thread tells of tide and tradition, palm, shell, spiral, golden traces of a coastline remembered.

A small relic of warmth, woven in Papua New Guinea from foraged natural fibre and ancestral skill.

In Papua New Guinea, the banana is more than fruit, its kin.
A tree that gives endlessly.
Its leaves wrap food for the fire.
Its fibres, softened and twisted, become bilum thread.
Its sap heals. Its fruit nourishes. Its 🌸 the marita carries a quiet sweetness that feeds both body and memory.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the market, women arrive from the highlands and coast, bilum heavy with green fruit and taro a constellation of care unfolding each morning.
Here, everything is connected: the garden, the hands that tend it, the stories that are shared beneath its shade.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To weave is to remember to hold in fibre what the land gives so freely.
The banana reminds us that the everyday can be sacred, that beauty can live in utility, and that culture, like fruit, ripens through care.

Golden hour, salt on your skin, the feel of the sea still in your hair. Our tropical Necklace embodies that feeling handwoven under the same sun, with charms that hold memories of the tides.

Made by women in Papua New Guinea, each one a small story of connection, light, and rhythm.
