Healing 🌀🌀🌀 so much learning and unlearning to do. Learning Te Reo has always been a tough one for me.. so joining this kaupapa 10 weeks ago, I was excited and nervous but had a knowing that this time would be different. I’ve tried to learn reo in the past, but never felt confident enough to use the reo I know so wouldnt retain it. But this time, with my iwi, alongside whānau, it’s been different. My confidence has grown and so has my reo. That is priceless to me. Being able to learn alongside my mum has been beautiful, seeing her grow has been inspiring. Being able to go to our marae and learn our waiata has also been a highlight for me. Once disconnected, through this reo journey, not only have i gained confidence but have strengthened my identity and connection to our marae and iwi. To anyone that is just starting on their journey (and even to myself) - Be kind to yourself. The world wont fall apart if you make a mistake in your learning journey. Be open to being corrected, be open to being supported and be open to stripping away a world you once knew. Mauri ora!
