ALIVE

Organic shapes, earthy greens, soft pinks and deep, almost burning reds meet in a landscape that feels both sensual and elemental. There is something juicy here — the richness of colour, the movement between softness and intensity, the feeling of something growing, opening and transforming.

The red carries heat and vitality, while the greens bring a sense of nature, renewal and grounding. Between them, the pale and rosy passages create softness, like light moving through leaves, skin or warm earth.

I wanted the painting to feel less like a landscape you look at and more like a landscape you enter — something warm, tactile and alive.

Somewhere along the way, many of us learn that creating should be about getting it right. We begin to judge every brushstroke before it has a chance to become something meaningful.

This painting became my way back. Back to curiosity. Back to experimenting without needing to know the outcome. Back to trusting that beauty often emerges through the unexpected.

Playfulness isn’t about being careless—it’s about being free. Joy isn’t found in perfection, but in presence. And imperfection isn’t something to hide; it’s where authenticity lives.

Every layer tells a story of letting go, trusting the process, and remembering why I fell in love with painting in the first place.

Inspired by tribal art and simple expressionist forms, Baselines explores the foundations of visual communication. The bold shapes and symbolic marks recall the earliest engraved figures and cave drawings—humanity’s first attempts to record thought, memory, and experience.

Reduced to essential forms, the composition invites viewers to engage with the work through intuition rather than definition. The absence of a fixed narrative creates room for imagination, allowing each person to discover their own meanings and connections within the image.

Baselines reflects on the enduring power of simple marks—how the most fundamental expressions can transcend time, culture, and language. It is a reminder that creativity often begins with a single shape, a single gesture, and the freedom to imagine what comes next.
