Moving postcards of Oldenzaal to our global friends.

No matter how many countries we’ve travelled to, Oldenzaal has always remained home to us. It is where our story began, and where our family’s watchmaking journey has lived on for over a century. There is something deeply meaningful about creating timepieces in the same place where our grandfather first laid the foundations in 1912, and where our father continued that path. Through GRØNE Oldenzaal, we hope to share a part of that story with the world, and in our own way, allow this small town to be recognised for the depth of craft and heritage it holds.

When we created the Moment Meter, we weren’t only thinking about measuring time.

We often think of time in milestones, but life is mostly made up of smaller, quieter experiences. The kind we don’t plan for, yet somehow remember. Over time, these memories begin to mean everything.

We received this photo from a friend and were instantly taken by how beautifully everything comes together. It reminded us of the early days, when we first paired the Moment Meter with leather straps. While elegant, they felt too formal for the watch’s spirited design. That led us to switch to a blue nylon sailcloth strap - stronger, lighter, and far more dynamic. Its durable weave holds its character over time, bringing a modern, sporty edge that complements the watch effortlessly. Looking back now, it still feels like the perfect choice!

An evolution of the 1941 case design, the Manueel One features a bezel with domed surfaces between the lugs and a concave profile along the sides of the case. The crown is characteristic of our brand, with a distinctly conical shape that enhances comfort while winding.

Sjef visits the Grönefeld Atelier to experience the Moment Meter for the first time!

As the father of Bart and Tim Grönefeld, and a watchmaker himself, Sjef represents the second generation of a family whose watchmaking history began in 1912. The atelier and workshop in Oldenzaal have remained central to this legacy, continuing to be owned and operated by the Grönefeld family.

This visit brings three generations of Grönefeld watchmakers together in the same space, marking the evolution of a local watchmaking business into a multi-generational craft.
