After posting the 3.5cm diameter round disc earrings, I immediately received a custom request for a 7cm version — I didn’t take it on right away. I said I needed to test the outcome myself first.

And the result turned out amazing 🤭

(Later, the same client also ordered a 2cm version, and I tested that one first as well.)

Since the design is totally teachable I recorded a tutorial and scheduled it for my students to use in class.. my Round Disc earrings doesn’t use any molds except a crochet hook. If you’re interested, I’ve left the tutorial link in the comments!

Heavily influenced by Yoola Yael Falk and Sowon Joo.
I first learned wire crocheting from Yael nearly a decade ago. Yael’s method works from the outside in, and with her ISK tool, the process feels quite effortless; Sowon’s approach, on the other hand, seems to move from the inside out, which is the direction I naturally prefer.
I thank both artists for their knowledge and inspiration. 🫶🏼

(Wire Micro Macramé Series)

Wire micro macramé is one of those techniques where text or PDFs are never quite enough.

The tension shifts, the subtle hand movements, the way the wire responds — these are things that really need to be seen, not read.

Life got busy, the school term was full, and then came a family trip.

It wasn’t until the school holidays, when everything finally slowed down, that I had the space to sit down, focus, and do this properly.
