We provide distributions on the first and third Tuesday of each month, making 24 distributions per year.

The Stars of Our Show include Alejandra Gracian and Marcela Urzua, the two amazing women who bag and distribute the food items. They are pleasant and honest and familiar with the people in town. Our hosting site (the womens' dressing room at the plaza), is kindly provided by the delegada of our village, Patricia Gonzalez. She is responsive and respectful of our needs. Pancho Saucedo, of Abarrotes Pancho, is the strongest arm of our program. He fulfills our food requests and is always friendly and ready to help however he can. Both Pancho and Rosario (of Carniceria Ventura) allow our patrons to redeem certificates for fresh produce and fresh meats. Rosario always greets her customers with a smile and kind efficiency. The Food Bank is deeply grateful for the support and cooperation of these people.

Throughout the year, many of you readers contribute to the program. Please know that 100% of your contributions are returned to the people of this town. We have zero overhead. The Lo de Marcos Food Bank expresses great appreciation for the combined work of many to help celebrate this season of giving. It’s especially important to help those most in need during this time. Jess at Apapacho Restaurant hosted the event and donated a portion of the drink sales. Tony and Friends played their engaging music for tips. And, sales of the book, The Book of S.H.I.T, were 100% donated to the Food Bank and the Christmas Hamper program. Such a wonderful collaboration and a great result of work well done. Thank you!

A tale of synchronicity and generosity that fits the holiday season and captures the essence of the Lo de Marcos Food Bank….

Recently a kind hearted gentleman gifted the Food Bank with extra funds for a Christmas Posada. Fruteria Pancho's regular order now included cookies and coffee. A few days later, Pancho advised me that the smaller package of cookies was no longer available. I asked him to order the larger package, knowing it would make the season a bit brighter. Soon after, a kind hearted gentlewoman gifted the Food Bank with extra funds. Wow! Coincidence..? No, it's the essence of the Lo de Marcos Food Bank.

The kind hearts are the heroes in this story. Thank you!!

Our Matching Campaign was a complete success! Thank you, everyone, everywhere for supporting this simple program that brings smiles and full bellies to so many. We are now able to continue our service for all of 2025, distributing food and supplies twice a month to almost 50 families. A deep bow of gratitude and warm hugs of appreciation are sent to each of you. Thank you very much!!

The Bags Group held their annual tournament for the Lo de Marcos Food Bank on January 23, 2025. More than $10,000 pesos was donated by players and friends. The total donation was matched by another outstanding local group. A great amount was raised to help those in need in our community. Terrific people doing terrific things. Congrats and thank you to everyone involved. And thank you, Jim Whipple, for posting this on What's Up Lo de Marcos. We are most appreciative. Bravo!

It's time for our annual reporting of financial data but first, here is a fun fact about this year.

If you add 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9, the total is 45, and 45 x 45 = 2025! This hasn’t happened since 1936 (when it was 44 x 44). And it won’t happen again until 2116 (when it will be 46 x 46). On to business…

The Food Bank has continued it's mission to supplement the nutritional needs of the people in town who need some assistance. With deep gratitude for the donations that make this possible, we also express our gratitude to the people and businesses that provide the food supplies and distribute it with kindness and attention.

Our tenth year will be marked by a growing town where it is even more important to offer assistance to those in need. We thank you very much for your continuing support as we invest 100% of your donations into the people that make Lo de Marcos so uniquely special.

A huge thank you is sent to Apapacho Restaurant and the artists that exhibited in the gallery over the high season. The artists contributed a portion of their sales to the Lo de Marcos Food Bank! Last Sunday, Jess of Apapacho and Katy of El Localito presented the gift.

This effort shows how we can all make a difference. Their donation benefits those in Lo de Marcos that need assistance and we are grateful.
