주 식회사를 뜻하는 (주)라는 표식에서 품어내는 의미는 자본주의를 보여주는 동시에 투자를 통한 협동체를 뜻하기도 한다. 작가에게 (주)라는 단어는 다른 산업의 누구보다도 생소할 것이다. 자본의 논리에서 가장 자유로운 직업의 영역임과 동시에 자본과 거리를 둘수록 작품의 순수성을 지킨다는 관념이 혼재하기 때문이다. 작가의 작품은 자본주의의 순환을 통해서 제작이 이루어 지지는 않는다. 하지만 작가의 일상은 자본주의가 쏟아내는 돈의 원리를 벗어나서 살아가기란 불가능하다. 작가들에게 자본이 잠식한 현실을 보여주는 목적으로 이번 그룹전은 계획되었다.

작가노트
나는 작품을 완성하는 것 보다는, 예술에 대한 이론을 수집하고 그것을 바탕으로 새로운 사상을 만들어가는 것이 더 흥미롭다. 작업을 통해, 우리의 시각에 내재되어 있는 다른 내러티브들의 경계를 허무는 것이 나의 작업 과정이라 할 수 있다.
나는 주로 사진을 통해 시각성과 사진의 특성을 포함하는 범위에서 작업을 진행하고 있다. 사회, 경제, 역사의 파편들을 시각화하는 방법으로 주로 그것과 관련되는 공간성을 연구한다. 나의 작업은 사회, 경제, 역사의 파편들을 시각화하는 방법으로 주로 그것과 관련되는 공간성을 연구하는 것이라 할 수 있다.
이 번 전시는 서울에서 제작된 과거의 작업과 현재 진행중인 유럽/중동 리서치 기반의 작품으로 구성된다.

Statement
Rather than working towards completed bodies of work, I am interested in artistic knowledge production.
The work allows rapprochements of apparently separate narratives across existing boundaries inherent in visual landscape. Photographic practice seems to be an appropriate tool of investigation.
My artistic practice combines a whole range of visual and photographic practices.
My work investigates spatial practice as a mode of visibility of social, economical and historical fragments.
Its focus is on landscape, architecture and their visual representation as forms of expression that allow for the coexistence of sovereignty and its contestations.
The installation brings together works from different projects: produced in Seoul and samples from ongoing research in Europe and Middle East.

‘Hal 할 Project’는 작가 조영주(Youngjoo Cho)와 클레가(Klega)의 공동 전시기획 프로젝트로 2013년 10월부터 상도동에 위치한 스페이스 매스(Space Mass)에서 약1년 간 진행된다.
‘Hal 할Project’ is a collaborative curating project of Youngjoo Cho and Klega, which starts in October 2013 for 1year, at Space Mass in Sangdo D**g, Seoul.
