"कपोत रूपधारी बिध - बिधाता"
बचपन में सुनी एक मैथिल लोककथा के अनुसार किसी स्त्री के गर्भस्थ शिशु की गर्भ-आयु और जन्म के बाद 'श्री चित्रगुप्त महाराज' द्वारा भाग्य लिखने के लिए "भाग्य - पट" (कपाल) के सृजन एवं सुरक्षा हेतु कपोत के जोड़े के रूप में स्वयं 'बिध - बिधाता' पांचवे महीने में गर्भवती स्त्री के घर आते हैं। इसलिए मिथिला में ऐसी मान्यता है कि गर्भवती स्त्री को पांचवे महीने के बाद खुली सुनसान जगहों में नहीं जाना चाहिए या अकेले नहीं रहना चाहिए ताकि अन्य प्रकार की आसुरी या दुष्ट शक्तियां पक्षीरूप लेकर गर्भस्थ शिशु का बिध बिधान द्वारा नव सृजित भाग्य-पट न बिगाड़ दे।

रामायण की एक चौपाई में गुरुमुनि वशिष्ठ जी द्वारा वर्णित है -
"सुनहु भरत भावी प्रबल, बिलखी कहेहूं मुनिनाथ,
हानि लाभ जीवन मरण, जस अपजस विधि हाथ।"

अर्थात जो विधि ने निर्धारित किया है वह होकर रहेगा। विधि के लिखे को न शास्त्र बदल सकते हैं, न ज्योतिष और न ही भाग्य । यह सब विधि - विधाता के हाथों में है। इस अनादि ब्रह्म के नियंता विधाता ने जो लिख दिया वह अटल है। समय में भला इतनी शक्ति कहां कि वह विधि का लेख बदल दे। होनी प्रबल है और घटकर रहेगी।
"जो विधि कर्म में लिखे विधाता,
मिटाने वाला कोई नहीं"
