Process of Inlay: -
∙ Creating Design
∙ take printout or hand-drawn as big as the design
∙ selection of inlay material
∙ Trace the design on inlay stone
∙ Cutting of inlay pieces
∙ giving the shape of inlay pieces
∙ putting the inlay pieces on base marble
∙ Mark the base properly with a sharp tool
∙ Running the grinder needle on a marked area
∙ Taking out the stone from the base marble as per the
marking
∙ Pasting of Inlay pieces on base marble
∙ Go for Polish
Creating Design: -
Creating design is the first step of any development. here in inlay design are mostly 3 types
∙ Traditional designs are commonly known as Mughal design
∙ Italian Designs
∙ Geometric Designs
Traditional Designs: -
Mostly focus on flowers, buds and branches. emphasise on trees and creepers
Italian Designs: -
along with flowers bud’s branches, it also focuses on birds, animals and sceneries
Geometric Designs: -
this kind of designs consists of geometric shapes like triangle rectangle square circle etc. depending upon the choice and taste of the customer we develop designs. it also depends upon present trends of fashion. as everything is customised in the work. selection of design become more important
Take printout or hand-drawn as big as design: -
This is a very important step; we have to take the printout as big as the selected design if the printout is not available in such size we have to draw it by hand. the reason behind taking print same as the design is to develop inlay stone in the same preposition otherwise the sizes of inlay stones may vary for example if any design of flooring is about 15ft x12ft then we have to take the printout in the same size otherwise have to draw it. Most of the time the designs are symmetrical, in such cases, we need to take a printout of one-fourth of the design. Selection of Inlay Material: -
The most important step during the process Selection of inlay material is based on many aspects such as chosen colours, hard stones or soft stones, cost-effectiveness etc. soft stones are normal softens (Mostly Indian) and hard stones are precious and semiprecious category stones. (Indian and foreign) such as
∙ Malachite, Green in colour
∙ Cornelian also called Haqiq, saffron colour
∙ Lapis, blue in colour
∙ Torquise also called Firoza, royal blue in colour
∙ Jasper
∙ Tiger eye, mostly yellow in colour is found in many shades
∙ MOP Mother of Pearl (white golden and grey)
∙ Bebalion multi-colour in one
∙ Emperador, two shades of dark and light brown
∙ Coral red in colour
∙ Agate
∙ Margus available in 3 colours red green and yellow
∙ Pizer available in 2 colours yellow and green
∙ Soda light blue colour with shades
∙ Kaushallya, yellow in colour
many more colours semiprecious stones are available to list is long. based on the design and choice of customer Metal inlay and bone inlay also happened, precious metal and semi-precious metal like brass, copper, silver or gold inlay is also happening. Trace the design on Inlay Stones: -
After selection of material for inlay and develop of pattern by taking printout or hand draw design, tracing of design over the material starts. selection of material as per colours of every piece and also a lot a unique number to every piece we trace from the design
providing unique number to every piece is very essential. at the time of inlay in base marble it plays its role. number maybe RR1, RL1 and GR1 GR2, it means RR1= red right 1st pices, RL1 Red left 1st pices GR1 Green right 1st pices and GL1 Green left 1st pices. it happened during the tracing process only because this is the time when all the material taking place for inlay. Cutting of Inlay Pieces: -
After tracing the Inlay material, it goes for cutting here is the first machine introduce in the process cutting is done by sharp cutter blades in grinder properly marked material goes for rough cutting but not proper shape of the design. Material is always random in size there can be 2 or 3 or more buds are traced on one piece of stone, cutting make separate each buds
Giving final shape to the Inlay Pieces: -
After cutting of the pieces, it goes for the step of getting proper shape as per design and size. this process is happening with the help of grinder. the talented and train workers control the speed of grinder as per their need.
