We would love to hear your Treasure Cove Memories.

As many of you remember, Una and Brian opened Treasure Cove in 1987. Our brave and bold parents moved from Dublin to Brian’s hometown with four young children in tow.

Brian, a watchmaker, got to work in the back repairing the town’s watches and jewellery. Una, a natural saleswoman, was front of house, helping the people of Cobh choose keepsakes to mark special and precious occasions along with our auntie Nodlaig Griffen.
Each one of the children ‘worked’ in the shop at some point with Jacquie and Henry eventually taking it over in 2000.

Una used her retirement to return to college and earn a degree from UCC. Brian “retired” by reducing his hours to half days, six days a week! He was in the shop, repairing watches and engraving jewellery and trophies, the day before he died. Henry has had so many incredible people by his side since then. Nodlaig helped set the business up, Louise Davidson & Margaret O’Connell who ran the shop while I took maternity leave & were so supportive for many years. Sinead Griffen, Ber Doyle were terrific to work with…. And, of course, our Jose. Josephine has been incredibly loyal & hardworking during the last 7 years. She is so loved by our customers & will be missed on The Beach. Gratitude & love to you all.❤️

We couldn’t close without mentioning the main man, Henry. He rolled up his sleeves and engraved, repaired and changed batteries, did the ordering & accounts, all while opening a new business. You’ll no longer see the light on in the workshop at 9pm as Henry will be playing golf/ working out/ playing poker/ writing poetry. We love you & can’t wait to actually spend time with you. 😘

As a family we have so many happy, hilarious, and heartwarming memories made in the back of the shop. The time Una served a customer with a snorkel on. The time Sarah spent the day whizzing around the shop on a scooter. Ber & Niamh playing badminton in the back of the shop. Jacquie’s endless orders of cakes and coffees and hangover cures from Jim’s Place. Playing shop with Ella & Ben and again with their cousins. Generational fun has been had.

But before we go, we want to hear your memories. We’d love to hear about the pieces of jewelry you bought for special occasion or the trophies you won that were engraved by us, or the communion or confirmation jewellery you were gifted, or the big birthday presents that were marked with a small black Treasure Cove box.

Whatever the memory, we’d love to hear it.

This is a bittersweet time for the O’Dea and Crowley clan, we’re looking forward to reading about the little place the shop had in your lives. Thank you so much for your custom & friendship. ❤️

After 37 jewel filled years we are closing our doors to allow us focus on our other business, Seasalt. We have such amazing memories. We have sold christening gifts & then sold wedding & anniversary gifts for those same people. We have laughed, and cried with the wonderful people that worked with us over the years. We are so grateful to have had you alongside us. We wouldn’t have remained in business for so long without the loyal support of our customers. Thanks to you two generations of our family were schooled & fed & taken on holiday. Every time you purchase from a small business, you are directly supporting the local economy & local families.
We encourage you to collect your repairs as soon as you can. We will no longer be taking in watch repairs, I know Brian would have had something to say about that ❤️
