【比較文學？咩嚟架？食得架？】【Scroll down for English version】

聽到比較文學，第一個反應可能係搲晒頭。
「你讀咩架？」
「我比較文學。」
「Er…你份人比較文學架？咁你即係讀咩？」
其實比較文學唔係比較文學作品咁簡單⋯

🌈唔止係文學，係比較文學！
根據Department嘅資料，比較文學包括以下五大範疇：
• 電影及視覺文化
• 文學及文化理論
• 性/別及性向研究
• 香港及亞洲研究
• 後殖民及全球研究

🌈跨學科、跨國界
無論你嘅領域係文學、電影、攝影、建築，定係文化現象，喺比較文學都可以學到點樣就住文本思考、分析同發問。文本亦不限國界、語言。
性/別研究？電影評論？日常廣東話嘅演化？比較文學通通都有。

🌈如水
比較文學就好似水咁樣，既可以反映世界光明同黑暗嘅一面，又會不斷變化去回應呢個瞬息萬變嘅大時代。
當我哋明白人類嘅感情同表達方式嘅時候，你會發現呢個世界唔再係難以捉摸，而係可以探索、理解嘅。
我哋渴望改變，希望打破文化嘅規範同習以為常嘅刻板印象，為被忽視嘅族群建造空間、提供發聲平台。

Upon seeing the majors and courses on offer, you start to wonder… What is even CompLit? You’ve never heard about it before! Is it Computer Science + Literature? Is it only about comparing written works? Curiouser and curiouser... Well, first of all, you do need a computer but it isn’t about comparing books...

🌈𝑴𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝑳𝒊𝒕!
The Department of Comparative Literature focuses on 05 areas of interest:
• Film and Visual Culture
• Literary and Cultural Theory
• Gender and Sexuality
• Hong Kong and Asia
• Postcolonial and Global Studies

🌈𝟎𝟏. 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒚
Don’t feel intimidated by such a long word! In Comparative Literature, “interdisciplinary” means learning how to think, to analyse, and to ask questions about everything from literary and visual texts to cultural phenomenon around the world!

We got it all here!

CompLit is a subject of great fluidity that is always transforming itself in response to the shifts of our world, like a mirror that reflects the good, the bad, and the diversity of our times.
In understanding the brevity and depth of human emotions and expressions, we begin to make sense of the physical world we dwell in.
In examining cultural norms or stereotypes that have been taken for granted, we aspire for change. We create space and turn the spotlight to urgent representations.

四月重頭戲:比較文學節(包括展覽、座談會、電影放映會、工作坊等活動) Bulletin等緊你投稿 呀!

由於疫情反覆不定，我哋難以預計活動嘅安排，希望大家可以見諒。記住like我地嘅page同喺instagram follow埋我哋啊，有咩 updates都會喺facebook同instagram同大家公佈

Where should we start with all these activities of Soc CompLit? Let’s look at them chronologically:

Aug-Oct: Ocamp, Tea Gathering, Welfare Week, Newsletter
Nov-Mar: Newsletter, Bazaar
April: CompLit Fest, including exhibition, panel talk, film show, workshop, and more! Submit your work for the Bulletin!

Let us wake up from the feverish dream induced by the quarantine ~ now is the time to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! Oh, the fevers of university life - so disorientating, dizzying, chaotic, yet so full of colours, laughter, and tears!

At the intersection of youth and maturity, why is it so hard to find someone who can understand and share your dreams and woes? In a big lecture room, isn’t it scary when you can’t find a reassuring familiar face? Fear not! Soc CompLit is all about reaching out for a book that picks your brain, about encountering souls that share your crazy visions of reaching for the stars, or just simply sharing the love of the silver screen.
