β¨ π Dazzling Demantoid Garnet π β¨ , diamonds π platinum ladyβs signet ring π€© Made in our Hatton Garden workshop π The larger green gemstone displayed a vibrant green colour and exceptional lustre. The stone also contained curving, radiating, needle-like rutile inclusions, known as βhorse tailβ inclusions amongst gemmologists.
Such inclusions are not seen in any other green stone but in demantoid garnet. Demantoid, green andradite garnet, was discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia in the middle of the 19th century and was one of the favourite gemstones of the Czarβs court. Today, demantoid garnet is mined in other locations, but the Russian demantoid continues to set the standard by which all the other gemstones are judged. Are you thinking of treating yourself to a unique piece of jewellery? π Or perhaps you have some old family jewellery that you are no longer wearing? Our gemmologist and jewellery valuer, Anna, will be delighted to βthrowβ in some ideas and create a new, vibrant piece from your existing jewellery π β¨
