Most of this afternoon was spent sanding and oiling Christmas decorations ready for the St Agnes Mingle and Jingle on Friday and Lime House Yoga Christmas Fayre on Sunday.

The boat you can see in the workshop is a historic Cornish Pilot Gig, Active. We are doing a major restoration and all the copper boat nails used in these Christmas decorations have been salvaged from Active, which was built in 1974 by Tom Chudleigh on St Marys, Isles of Scilly. She was the first copy of the 1838 Treffry, whose lines are now used for all Cornish Pilot Gig builds. These decorations carry a piece of gig rowing history and the copper boat nails (which are square cut, giving them a diamond shape) are getting a well deserved retirement from seafaring.

Feeling Christmassy! Latest creations from offcuts of Elm, Utile and Oak, with copper boat nail details. I use the rusty old boat nails salvaged from boat repairs, adding a slight challenge to create these but they sand up shiny and new. Find me at the St Agnes Mingle and Jingle late night shopping on 5th December 5-9pm (craft stall in the Church) and the Limehouse Yoga Christmas Fayre on the 7th December 11am-4pm.

I will be bringing a selection of these to Bude next weekend. Each one is slightly different, as they are hand made and I have been experimenting with lots of different designs. The earring findings you see are copper, rose gold plated and sterling silver hooks and hoops. Some are suspended from flattened copper roves, others have a copper rivet which we use in boat building. The plain coloured wood is oak with contrasting grain, offcuts from a half lap joint in the boat. The three-coloured wood is Elm, Utile and Oak.

Please PM me to pre-order with a screen shot of your favourite so I can make them with whichever findings you prefer. Prices for earrings are £25, or £30 for the largest more detailed earrings. Keyrings are £12.50 and necklaces £20.
