A year ago I took some time to learn under Officine Nora | jewelry work/shop with Metalsmiths In Florence in Florence. Im sharing these shots because its 12 months on and I can see how I use these skills every day & have continued to grow my skill bank. Its reminded me that learning - however & wherever - is soooo important to personal growth. Being fully outside my comfort zone (I speak no Italian & knew noone) really brings stuff up. Im under no illusion this was an enormous privelage but for me, taking a couple of hours to try something completely new & terrifying one evening when the jobs are done (never) has the same effect, sadly its also possible outside of Florence...right in my own studio! Then there's the people, oh what a joy.... 2 really great teachers Monica & Marghe plus the usual jeweller banter...invaluable. Ive stayed in touch with 2 in particular who im hoping to host some upskilling for here in the UK next year, check out their work (tagged below). Have a good week all - do the scary things β€οΈ
