Here is the Omega Speedmaster MoonWatch Co-Axial (ref.: 311.30.44.50.01.002) which was released in 2008 & stayed in production until 2013. Like the Speedmaster Professional MoonWatch (ref.: 3570.50.00) it has the advantages of being a Chronograph & a tachymeter bezel for measuring time & speed. And, it has the same brilliant Stainless Steel case as the Omega (ref.: 3570.50.00), plus double the water resistance at 10atm/32ft/100m. Not to mention the movement has a co-axial escapement - improving long-term timekeeping.

Ever since Buzz Aldrin became the first man on the moon wearing the Omega Speedmaster Professional there have been a number of anniversary models made in honour of that achievement.

This model here was released in 1996 - 27 years after the Apollo 11 mission - as a Chronograph using a manually wound calibre 1861 movement. It’s bezel also acts as a tachymeter - for calculating speed. Everything about this piece of equipment is made to be practical, just the sort of thing you’d want when going on a mission into space.

No wonder the Omega MoonWatch was awarded the NASA Silver Snoopy Award for outstanding contributions to flight safety & mission success in space travel.
