Back to School is just about over (although the universities have not all started back yet) but already the high street stores have aisles dedicated to the red, green and gold colours that mean Christmas is just around the corner (well 15 weeks away!)

Creating a handcrafted, individual design with love takes a little more time that simply hitting print and guarentees there are not thousands of the same design being bought and sent all across the UK!

I love this time of year, but help me out and tell me who you always find hard to to buy the ideal card for?

One of the most regularly asked questions, especially when chatting at a wedding fair, is 'Which items do we need?'

And we've had mixed responses to our very honest answer - in reality? NONE of them. It may not be the most obvious response, but it is honest!

You could just send a Watsapp message.... not exactly traditional, but it is a possible option and we strongly feel your choices should be made by you because you want to, not because you feel pressured to (our designs are far prettier though!)

The Italian Grand Prix is over for another year, but it feels like the perfect time to share this timelapse of me hand colouring a Ferrari emblem for a Ferrari themed bespoke design based on some of the teams historic firsts.

While the teams can collapse, relocate and rebuild the paddock at what seems like an incredible speed it is safe to say that creating the individual elements of bespoke design take a little more time!

I love this time of year. ⁠
New designs are taking shape, wedding‑fair preparations are in full flow, and the seasonal battle to create the best display possible continues - although I already know that not everything will fit on the table! ⁠

One of my favourite moments at every fair?⁠
Seeing couples’ faces when they are told they don’t need everything… in fact, they don’t need anything on the display. It probably seems like a poor business strategy - but it’s true. You could send a WhatsApp message if you wanted to.⁠
⁠
That said, let’s be honest… our designs are far prettier!
⁠
And it's great to be able to tell couples how they can adapt the display samples to fit their vision - helping them choose what really matters to them with no minimum order, no must have checklist, no package only options. ⁠

“Sure, grabbing a card with your weekly shop might seem convenient… but does it really say ‘I thought of you and chose this’?

Will it be made with quality materials, thoughtful design, the chance to add personal touches and a whole lot of love?

It seems like five minutes since I welcomed August and yet here we are welcoming September! ⁠

August also saw multiple projects reach final approval, printing and delivery stages. And the start of Christmas prep for this year.... sorry (not!) but when you hand craft with love, it takes a little longer than simply hitting print!! ⁠

The Creation Station closed for the Bristol Hot Air Balloon Fiesta weekend and it was EPIC! The weather Gods were kind (a little too kind as I got burnt despite wearing factor 50!!) 5 out of 6 possible mass ascents, 2 fantastic night glows, 2 world records set.... but just because the Creation Station was closed it doesn't mean there was no FoA action! Sharing the weekend with Jasmin meant there were LOTS of ideas 'floating' as well!! ⁠

Today is International Letter Writing Day and I will be spending a little time catching up with the penpals and overseas friends I have neglected over the summer period - a real letter somehow seems more thoughtful than a hastily typed and sent email.

We've won an award!!

Many small business awards encourage a self nomination, but this doesn't sit well with me so I'll admit I was a little sceptical when I first read the email advising of our inclusion.

And I read the email advising of our win several times before it seemed real!

The option of an official award certificate and trophy was very tempting - they would have looked great on our socials and wedding fair displays - but staying true to our values it was decided the cost was better used in developing our designs and keeping our prices as low as possible.

A HUGE Thank you to all our lovely clients and to SME for our unexpected award.

Too soon for Christmas designs?!

Back to School isn't even over yet and yet some of the local supermarkets are already jumping to Halloween and Christmas, so if you can't beat them.....

In all seriousness though, help me out and tell me what you always find hard to to buy cards for during 'that' time of year.
