Pony Tails Jewellery

Pony Tails Jewellery Beautiful hand crafted jewellery made from your own horses tail. Pet hair and ashes set in resin as forever keepsakes. http://www.ponytailsjewellery.com/ Thanks x

It's my aim to make your forever keepsake perfect for you. As a horse owner myself I know how treasured this special piece of jewellery will be. Each piece is unique and hand crafted to your own specific requirements. To collect the tail hair, lift the tail and cut a piece close to the dock on the underside of the tail. This way it won't be noticeable! I need the hair to be about the thickness of

your little finger and at least 17" long to braid a bracelet but the longer and more hair the better. Shorter lengths can be used to make keyrings and tassels. Secure the hair at the end only with a band (a plaiting band is perfect) please don't plait the hair as it will kink which makes it difficult to work with. Mane hair doesn't braid well as it's too soft but can be used to make tassels. If you have more than one horse and would like them combined into one braid or tassel this is not a problem and can produce some stunning results! I will wash and prepare the hair for you and return your chosen piece gift boxed by recorded delivery. The price for this is -
£75 for a Braid
£25 for a Tassel
from £55 for a keyring

Now for the fun bit...choosing your fittings!! Have a look at my "Fittings & Charms" album to choose the fittings and charms you would like to make your piece unique. Please note ALL my fittings, charms and beads are 925 Sterling Silver and NOT just silver plated. Each braided item will need 2 end caps and a tassel will need 1 end cap. If there is something specific you have in mind which I don't stock please contact me and I will do my best to find it for you. Also if you have your own bead or charm you want attached I am happy to do this. Please just contact me first to discuss. When posting just add a note stating which custom made piece you would like, bracelet, keyring etc, along with which fittings, charms and beads desired. For bracelets these will be made to a standard 7" which is an average adult. They can be made smaller or larger, so please do state your requirements if different. Don't forget to include your name, contact number and return address. Payment can be made by an online payment link sent to your mobile. Payment due on completion and before returning. Post to-

I want to show you something a little different from my usual range.

The Horseshoe Hair Keychain is a 2cm sterling silver horseshoe with your horse's own tail hair braided and set inside it, hanging from a substantial oval screw clasp - all in solid 925 sterling silver, every join hand-soldered.

The screw clasp is secure and easy to use - loosen it to hook it onto whatever you want to attach it to, then tighten to hold firmly in place.

You can keep it simple, or add a charm from the full range - a stone, a horseshoe, an initial, angel wings

The Horseshoe Hair Keychain requires significantly less tail hair than a braided bracelet, making it a beautiful option if you only have a small amount available

Yes - you can commission matching pieces from the same hair.

This is something I love doing, and it's more popular than people might expect. A mother and daughter who each want a bracelet from the family horse. Siblings who grew up riding together and want something to mark that when the horse retires. Two best friends who shared a yard for years and want a way to carry that with them.

You send me the hair once, and I make as many pieces as you need from it. Each one is handcrafted individually - same hair, same standard of care, but each piece its own thing. They can all be identical, or I can make each one slightly different so that each person has something that feels distinctly theirs.

It works beautifully for gifts, too - a surprise for someone who doesn't know you've ordered. I've made a lot of pieces this way, and the message afterwards from the person who received it is always worth waiting for.
If you have more than one person who loves the same horse, this might be exactly what you're looking for. 💙

Everyone's favourite! The braided bracelet 🐴

Each one starts with your horse's own tail hair, braided by hand in my studio. The braid sits between your choice of sterling silver end caps - polished for a finer, more delicate style, or hammered for something slightly chunkier and more textured. Then your choice of clasp: lobster, twisted ring, heart, oval, filigree or ornate circle. Every join is hand-soldered in solid 925 sterling silver.

You can keep it simple and classic, or personalise it with a sterling silver charm - a horseshoe, a heart, angel wings, a paw print, or an initial.

Includes free return tracked postage.

Made individually by me, for you and your horse. 💙

Which clasp would you choose? And what charm - or would you keep it simple? Tell me in the comments. 💙

I'd like to introduce you to something I think a lot of you will love.

The Always Close charm is a 6mm sterling silver charm that holds the fur or ashes of a dog, cat, or any other pet — encased in resin and hand-soldered directly onto your bracelet, keyring, or necklace alongside the horse hair braid.

It's for those who love more than one. The horse who's always been there, and the dog who was always beside them at the yard. Or a pet you've lost, carried alongside a horse you still have. Two bonds, one piece of jewellery.

The resin comes in five colours - clear, pink, blue, green, or black - so you can choose something that feels right for the animal it holds.

Because sometimes love is more than one. 💙

Added to any bracelet, keychain, tassel or necklace. www.ponytailsjewellery.com - link in bio 💙

Why do I only use 925 sterling silver? Because your bracelet deserves to last
I could use plated silver. Most people wouldn't know the difference at first - it photographs the same, it looks the same in the box. But within a year or two, plating wears off. The colour changes. The quality shows itself eventually, always.
Sterling silver is different. It's a solid material all the way through - not a coating over something cheaper. It tarnishes slightly over time if you don't wear it, but a soft polishing cloth brings it back immediately. And it's hypoallergenic, which matters for something you're going to wear against your skin every day.
When I hand-solder the joins rather than using glue or crimping, I'm not doing it for show. I'm doing it because soldered joins are structural. Twenty years from now, the braid still looks beautiful and the silver still holds, that's why. 💙

Something I don't think people always realise - you can commission a keepsake for a horse who's still very much with you.
Most people associate memorial jewellery with loss. And yes, I do make a great many pieces for people who've lost a horse they loved. But roughly half of the bracelets I make are celebrations - a horse still here, a bond still ongoing, a person who simply wants to mark something that matters to them right now.
A milestone birthday. A retirement from competition. Twenty years together. Just because. The reasons don't need to be grand. Sometimes people commission a keepsake because they've been thinking about it for years and they've finally decided not to wait.
I love those pieces too. There's something different about knowing the horse is still in their person's life when the bracelet is made and sent. The keepsake becomes less about holding on and more about celebrating what's right in front of you.
If you've been thinking it was too soon, or that you needed a reason - this is your sign that you don't. 💙

One question I get asked more than almost any other: how much hair do I need to send?

The answer is less than most people expect - and that's usually a relief to hear.
For a braided bracelet, I need a section of tail hair at least 43cm (about 17 inches) long, and roughly the thickness of your thumb when gathered together. That's a small cut from the underside of the tail, and when done correctly it won't be visible at all. I send every customer clear, step-by-step instructions on exactly how to cut it safely before they do anything.

If you're worried your horse doesn't have enough tail hair, or you'd prefer not to cut it - get in touch and we can talk through the alternatives. Mane hair, for example, works beautifully for tassels or resin pieces. And if you have hair from multiple horses or a smaller amount than you'd hoped, I'll tell you honestly what's possible.
Nothing about this process should feel stressful. From the moment you order, I'm with you - answering questions, guiding you through the hair collection, and keeping you updated as I work. You don't need to figure any of this out alone. 💙
