A couple of .duchaufour’s perfumes. Wilfully unruly, these jagged angles are chaotic and disorderly. Are the perfumes?

Well today let me tell you about White Blood which is a new release from the brand. Now firstly I’ve no idea what white blood would smell like so I don’t come at this with any preconceptions - but this is a tropical fruity perfume that’s not overly heavy on the fruitiness. Like a well mannered fruit salad rather than a gaudy fruit punch with an umbrella in it. Side note - I think umbrellas in drinks are massively under rated.

The polite fruitiness yields to a salty musk and ambergris combo. Elegant and durable this isn’t a beast mode projection monster or anything but it lasts very well.

It’s an unusual perfume - not jarring and weird but just a little unusual. I think if you want a tropical fruity number that isn’t *by* the numbers then definitely check this excellently angled perfume

pair here. The original you know. Of course you do. It’s a big gaudy dazzling driven lavender and vanilla - squelchy and thick - it’s the neo-classical spiritual descendent of Caron Pour Un Homme but like it’s rejected its aristocratic roots and has taken up with a gang of circus performers and hedonists.

Anyway. The blue one smells quite similar. It’s spicier with something approaching a liquorice styled note making it feel more robust and perhaps a little less “lads in the club” than the original. It is also denser and longer lasting if somewhat less diffusive than its stable mate.

Basically it’s still for the kids though. And your author is unlikely to be wearing these much just because I’m sadly no longer 16.

I think I’m sorted for these for a while. This is my current favourite perfume. It’s not my all time favourite or anything but I find myself wanting to wear this a LOT. Yes it’s a rose oud - if not an oud then rose and woods sure. But it’s green. And vibrant and sappy. It smells like crushed rose stems on ice. It works remarkably in the warmth. Marketing this as feminine seems to be stupid but if it discourages other dudes from wearing it then I’m all good with it.

I wanted to love these new perfumes because - well - just look at it! But I don’t. I don’t hate it by any means but it’s basically Ganymede redux. It’s got that whole metal scalpel sharpness with a jarring vanilla. I enjoyed wearing it once but at the end of the experience knew I wouldn’t want to wear it again.

Triple threat for the bank holiday weekend. Pur Santal is a ridiculous indulgence to be honest. It’s just a sandalwood fragrance. It’s meant to be layered with other stuff. Fine. It’s ok. It smells high grade and all but I’m not really sure I need to be adding random sandalwood to stuff. Do I?

.fragrances Berbera arrived last week and I have some thoughts. I mean. Sure. I have thoughts in the general sense but I mean specifically about this perfume.

Good. We are all in the right place then.

First to say this bottle is a nightmare to take a photo of. My usual very highly lit approach doesn’t work as it washes out the Nissaba logo so I had to try something different (for me - I am not claiming to be some creative photographer or anything) and after a bit of messing about I came up with this underlit version which seems to do the job.

There’s a very clever label here too. The bottle doesn’t contain the perfume name which means they can all be the same across the brand and then there’s a little material tag that sits under the collar and sprayer. It’s a very eco friendly and efficient approach but also unique and ingenious.

Ok so the perfume is… a peppery resinous incense. It has a distinctly natural feel to it and whilst I couldn’t really tell you what high quality means in respect of materials - it has a very high quality feel to the output. It is incredibly warm and silky in its texture and has a thoughtful coherence to the whole experience. It doesn’t shout. It quietly smells lovely.

I really dig this.

Prada Carbon EDP is a new release. It smells nice. It’s a little unadventurous and it’s not exactly giving me palpitations but it’s serviceable enough if you want a modern punchy sweet lavender. It’s not really my bag but for a more youthful sort of chap it’s probably a good choice - modern, aromatic and warm - it’s very much on the “smell good” spectrum.
