Hopefully I can get back into my log cabin soon as I’ve not made any jewellery for a month! It’s been up to 34 degrees in there so unbearable for any length of time! 🥵🔥🥵 Anyone else having the same issues?

Necklace number 2! (see previous post for necklace number 1 and the story behind me making them). I added some stainless steel chain to the original beads. I also made a hook and eye fastening so easier for a 93 year old arthritic hand to put the necklace on and off. The third photo is the beads I have left so need to have a think about what I am going to do for necklace number 3 🤔

Something a little different from the norm.

My 93 year old neighbour brought some old jewellery over to see if they were of any use to me. TBH they were in bad shape, quite rusty , corroded and the coatings chipped off of some of the components and the (leatherette) cord literally disintegrated when I was handling the necklaces. My neighbour did mention that she used to love wearing some of the pieces and it was a shame.
I have put them in an ultrasound bath to clean them and dismantled them to salvage what I could. I noticed that a few of the necklaces are a Y shape style so that seems to be her thing.

Soooo, I have decided to try and make a few necklaces for her using the salvaged bits and adding a few components from other donated jewellery and some new chain, whilst giving a nod to the design of the original sets.

So far I have made one necklace and a second has been laid out in design. I might be lucky to get a third necklace. I have really enjoyed making them so far and excited to give them to her as she literally has no idea I am doing this for her, she is not expecting anything back.

Photos of originals and first completed necklace in this post. I will update with the other necklace(s) in due course.

Hopefully I got the brief right!
“A circle in a circle earrings with alternating amethyst, rose quartz and clear quartz nuggets”
Amethyst is their favourite stone so I used more of them compared to the others.
