After 62 years at the bench, I’m finally sharing what I’ve spent a lifetime learning.

I’ve been making bespoke, high-end gold jewellery since 1964. I was lucky enough to learn from master craftsmen who were working in the 1920s, using traditional techniques that are now over 100 years old.

Many of these methods are no longer taught. Some are at risk of disappearing completely.

After so many requests, I’ve created an online jewellery course to pass this knowledge on properly.

Inside the course, you’ll learn skills such as resizing rings, recycling gold, making a collet, forming a shank, drilling, creating backholes, and working with traditional goldsmithing tools.

The course launches this summer, but you can join the waitlist now to be the first to hear when enrolment opens.

Everyone on the waitlist will receive an exclusive early bird discount.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn traditional goldsmithing from someone who has lived it for a lifetime, this is for you.

Join the waitlist through the link in my bio, or comment WAITLIST and I’ll DM you the link.

Let me show you how to make a 1930’s style collet for a platinum ring that will house a 2-carat diamond. While you can buy collets ready made, if you want something unique like this it will have to be made by hand. If you want to learn how to make this and other techniques and methods, please join the waitlist for my online course that launches this summer. Comment WAITIST and I’ll send you the link for early access and the early bird discount.

This platinum bracelet, set with sapphires, diamonds, emeralds and rubies, was a true labour of love — full of mystery and beauty.
It took months to make, with hidden leopard heads that detach so the bracelet can be worn, though you would never know how without being shown. It was created for a special client, who has now brought it back to me for servicing after many years of wearing it.

I’m often asked what my favorite era of jewellery is and it has to be the Art Deco period. The precision, geometric shapes and vibrancy of the time lends itself wonderfully to jewellery and I love working on Art Deco pieces.

Buying an item of bespoke jewellery is a journey that the client and I go on together, ensuring every piece is unique and personal to the wearer.

My Pegasus brooch was commissioned years ago for a very special client — crafted in 18 carat gold, set with 3 carats of diamonds, and brought to life with two glowing ruby eyes. One of a kind. Literally. There is no other like it in the world.
Pegasus — the winged horse of myth, symbol of power, grace, and the divine — felt like the perfect muse to resurface this Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse 🐎
After years, this extraordinary piece is ready to find its next keeper.

Here’s a little tutorial on how to make butterfly backs (or scrolls) for earrings. I’m demonstrating in silver, but I’d typically make these in gold or platinum to match the jewellery they’re for.
The six- or eight-section domed plate not only looks pretty but makes the earring much more comfortable to wear. My trick: I push a broken drill bit through the holes while soldering to hold everything in place and prevent solder from running where it shouldn’t. Once the solder’s set, I simply pull it back out.

The milling machine is a crucial tool that allows controlled, repeatable cuts to a precise depth, which would be difficult to achieve accurately by hand.
Once complete, the piece can be shaped and finished at the bench.

Made of white gold and covered in 200 diamonds, my referee’s whistle is based on the real thing. I first made it almost 50 years ago and recently recreated it for a special event. Let me know what you think! Not one of my usual commissions but still a fun item that would look great hanging off a gold chain.

Completed and ready to wear. This Victorian tiara section from circa 1870 has been given new life as the centerpiece of a bespoke commission. The original diamond-set silver and gold (doublé) piece now sits within a custom-crafted frame, honoring its history while creating something entirely new. The centerpiece is designed to be removed and worn as a necklace, making this a truly versatile heirloom piece. From initial sketches to finished piece, thank you for following along on this journey.
