It saddens me to hear that the Jewellery and Silversmithing BA at Edinburgh College of Art, the course that shaped my professional life, is closing 💔

During my time at ECA, I was taught by world-renowned tutors whose knowledge of traditional making skills and conceptual jewellery thinking is unmatched by most institutions.

I believe that in an age of AI and automation, craft matters more, not less.

~ Material exploration

Learning to slow down, problem-solve and see something through with your own hands doesn’t just stay in the studio. It stays with you for life.

And it wasn’t only the workshop. I also valued learning alongside students from other creative and academic disciplines, which is one of the reasons I chose a university over a solely art school. That meeting of minds creates a rich environment where both thrive. I made lifelong friends and had the best education.

I really hope future students don’t lose the chance to have what I had. It gave me so much, and I’ll always be grateful. ♥️

📣 I ask anyone who studied a craft course, or is a supporter of one, to sign the petition to hopefully keep these courses alive! Link in my bio ✍️

~A bittersweet moment as I left my bench. I hope this isn’t goodbye to the course forever.

A signet ring, gifted by a husband to his new wife. Not quite my usual brief, maybe that’s why this one felt even more special.

The ring keeps its traditional shape and engraving, but on either side we’ve placed diamonds in a star setting - softening the silhouette and letting a little of her personality shine through the gold.

A year ago, I made this chunky 18ct yellow gold ring for a client. Recently, she came back with a little idea…

She wanted to make it bigger, bolder and brighter. So I sourced this beautiful tsavorite and worked it into the original design, bringing a fresh burst of colour and a whole new feeling to the piece 💚

One of my favorite parts of this job!

I love getting to work with stones that mean something. Every gem in this carousel tells its own story, whether it’s a custom commission piece or a stone that just spoke to me. There’s something so personal about choosing the right one - the colour, the cut, the way it catches light. No two are ever quite the same.

Engagement ring 💚✨

This one was such a special project. It sits somewhere between my chunky style and the more refined engagement rings I’ve been making recently, which made it an exciting challenge to take on.

As always, I started by sourcing stones. This time the only guidance was it had to be green. I selected a range: tourmaline, beryl, peridot, sapphire… but the client fell in love with the punchy, bold lime of this peridot. We explored shape and cut before settling on this clean, minimal stone.

The client’s partner doesn’t wear gold, so we chose platinum. I kept it in its natural polished state, no rhodium plating, which gives it that beautiful raw gunmetal tone rather than a bright white finish. It keeps the whole piece feeling contemporary 💚✨
