-Ari Sterling-

Fine sterling silver gifts and jewellery. We draw upon design inspiration from the past, particularly from Victorian, Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Our design intention is to create the ‘antiques of tomorrow’ and we take great pride in differing from the trend of fashion lead and semi-discardable. It is our passion to create substantial pieces intended to be passed down through generations.

-JewelAri-

Ari has created the JewelAri collection with the aim of brightening the current recessionary global atmosphere with affordable “look good” feel good exciting jewellery. The collection is a playful yet classic collection of unique designs celebrating life and the natural beauty of flora and fauna in all seasons influenced by the Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Victorian periods. Each hand-finished piece is either gold or rhodium plated and decorated with a combination of Austrian crystals, pearls and richly coloured enamel. The guiding ethos of this new collection is to harness the skills of silversmiths and goldsmiths and apply them to non-precious metals.

Some keepsakes hold more than their contents.

This sterling silver pill box, created in the 1990s within Ari D. Norman’s hand-painted enamel giftware collection, preserves a golfing landscape beneath its circular lid. The scene belongs to a tradition of British sporting imagery: a golfer at the water’s edge, fairway and trees held in a moment of measured concentration.

Now part of the Studio Variations collection in the JewelAri Archive, it offers a glimpse of the studio’s work beyond jewellery—where a practical hinged box became a miniature painted object, shaped by hand and intended to be kept.

Some objects carry the record of a decision.

This dolphin ring was created for a luxury retail programme that never reached production. Its sterling silver form, black rhodium finish and hand-set pink cubic zirconia were considered too costly for the intended market; rather than simplify the design, the collection was left as it stood.

Only a handful were produced. This archive sample now forms part of Studio Variations: designs preserved as they were first intended.

Available in UK size P / USA size 7 3/4.

**The ABCs of Ari D. Norman.**

Every design begins somewhere.

A person. A place. An artist. A journey. An idea that stays with you.

Across a lifetime of designing, collecting and travelling, these influences became part of the creative language of Ari D. Norman — drawn from family and friendship, art and architecture, history, craftsmanship and cultures encountered around the world.

Now, as **The Vault Is Open**, we’re returning to the archive to tell those stories one letter at a time.

**26 letters. A lifetime of influences.**

Some deeply personal.
Some unexpected.
All part of the story.

We begin with **A**.

**PRODUCT STUDY | THE BLACK RHODIUM CRAB**

Some pieces were never designed to disappear quietly into a jewellery box.

This rare **Studio Variations crab brooch** is one of them.

Sculpted in hallmarked sterling silver, its surface is transformed with black rhodium and hundreds of individually hand-set cubic zirconia — brilliant white across the claws, deep black through the articulated details, and an extraordinary sweep of vivid pink across the body.

At just 4.2 × 4.4 cm, it is remarkably compact for something with so much character.

Turn it over and the construction becomes part of the story: the sculptural silver framework, articulated form and secure brooch fitting reveal the craftsmanship beneath the colour.

A miniature marine sculpture intended to be worn.

Rare. Uncompromising. And preserved exactly as it was originally created.

**Not old—original.
A fragment of a 50-year jewellery legacy.

Some pieces are chosen not only for how they are worn, but for the character they carry when resting between wearings.

Drawn from The JewelAri Compendium and The Crystal Caches, this crouching tiger brooch pendant brings together a textured gold-tone surface, hand-painted enamel and hand-set Swarovski crystals. Its form holds to the idea of hidden strength: poised, watchful and contained.

With its pin back and attached chain, it can move between a personal collection, a lapel and a necklace with ease. An authenticity guarantee card accompanies the piece.

Some pieces remain in an archive not because they were unfinished, but because they refused to be simplified.

This sterling silver crab brooch belongs to Studio Variations: a series developed with black rhodium plating and individually hand-set pink cubic zirconia, then retained when its intended level of finish exceeded the original retail target.

Only a handful were produced. The result is a sculptural marine design preserved as it was first imagined—every shell plate, claw and articulated leg still given its full consideration.

A small record of a studio choosing the design over the compromise.

**FROM THE ENGRAVING STUDIO | A Moment Made Permanent**

On the bench this week: a piece being made for **Francis Henry**, marking **17 June 2023**.

There is something particularly intimate about engraving silver.

A piece may begin as an object chosen for its design and craftsmanship. Then a name, a date or a few carefully chosen words are cut into its surface — and its meaning changes completely.

It becomes *their* piece.

Births. Christenings. Weddings. Anniversaries. Milestones. Or simply a date that means something to two people and nobody else.

Long after the occasion itself has passed, the inscription remains.

That is one of the things we have always loved about working in silver: it has the ability not simply to commemorate a moment, but to carry it forward.

**Some dates deserve more than remembering.**

They deserve to be made permanent.

**THE ANTIQUE OF TOMORROW**

Where does a design begin?

For Ari D. Norman, inspiration has never belonged to one period.

The adventure of the Victorian era.
The romance of Art Nouveau.
The liberated geometry of Art Deco.

Take something from each, combine it with modern taste, craftsmanship and the British hallmark, and an object begins to exist somewhere between past and future.

These influences have travelled with Ari throughout his career — from early designs and days spent wandering Portobello Road to the pieces still being created today.

There is a wonderful irony in occasionally finding early Ari D. Norman pieces already described as *“hallmarked antique silver.”*

Perhaps that was always the ambition.

Not simply to make something fashionable for today, but something a future generation might discover, collect and treasure.

**The antique of tomorrow.**

**FROM TOOL TO TREASURE | Where Character Takes Shape**

Before silver becomes something to treasure, it has to take form.

Traditional dies are part of the language of silversmithing — tools made to shape metal under pressure, establishing the forms that will later be finished, polished and transformed into the objects we recognise.

Here, the journey from tool to finished piece can be seen side by side: the working dies, the press and the little silver bears that emerge from the process.

It is an easily overlooked part of making. Yet behind even the smallest object can sit years of accumulated knowledge — the understanding of metal, pressure, proportion and finish that turns a sheet of silver into something with character.

**From tool. To form. To treasure.**

A bracelet is often understood in stillness; this one is made to be noticed in motion.

Nine articulated floral links allow the design to follow the wrist with an easy, fluid rhythm. Aurora Borealis Swarovski crystals shift through changing tones of light, while Swarovski pearl centres bring each flower back to a quieter point of focus.

Gold plated and finished with a fold-over clasp, it is a considered piece for bridal dressing, an occasion, or a day that calls for a little more light.
