Bombé

The word comes from French, meaning rounded or curved outward. In jewellery, it refers to a domed, convex surface that curves away from the skin rather than sitting flat. The result is a piece that has volume and presence from every angle. And because the surface is curved, it catches light differently to a flat setting. More angles, more movement, more depth.

It is also why bombé pieces tend to look more substantial than their size suggests. You will see it most clearly in the Wolf Ring, that bold, three-dimensional silhouette that reads differently in person than it does on screen.

A choker sits at the collarbone and works best with open necklines. Princess length sits just below the collarbone and works with everything, if you’re ever unsure, this is the one. Matinee sits lower on the chest and is the best anchor piece for layering.

When it comes to layering, start with something short as your foundation and build down from there. Vary the lengths so nothing sits at the same point, mix textures, and pick one piece as your focal point. That is genuinely the whole formula.
