Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date quickly became the brand’s flagship dress watch and remains one of the most recognisable luxury timepieces ever created. Exclusively crafted in precious metals, it was the first wristwatch to display both the day of the week written in full at 12 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock, setting a new benchmark for prestige and practicality. Over the decades, the Day-Date has earned the affectionate nickname “President”, becoming a symbol of timeless elegance and achievement.
The reference 1803 is one of the most iconic vintage Day-Date models, representing the pure charm of the collection during the 1960s and 1970s. This example is housed in the classic 36mm 18ct yellow gold Oyster case and fitted with the signature 18ct yellow gold fluted bezel, giving the watch the unmistakable profile that collectors and enthusiasts have admired for generations.
Its standout feature is the elegant champagne sunburst step dial, which catches the light beautifully and complements the warmth of the yellow gold case. The dial is finished with the classic day aperture at 12 o’clock and date window at 3 o’clock, while an acrylic plexi crystal preserves the vintage character of the watch. The piece is presented on a black alligator leather strap, fitted with a Rolex buckle, offering a refined alternative to the traditional President bracelet.
Originally made by Rolex in 1972, this Day-Date is supplied with a Rolex service box and a Rolex receipt for replacement Rolex buckle and Rolex strap, further enhancing its presentation. Serial number 294***0
A beautifully preserved vintage -Date with classic proportions, warm gold tones, and unmistakable presence, a timeless dress watch from one of the brand’s most celebrated eras.
