JOURNAL PROMPT: What's my idea of success?
On the back of my last post about being more willing to share, I realised my reluctancy to create content this way from the beginning steamed from fear. Fear of being seen and most of all fear of failing.
Since then I've spent some time journaling/reflecting on where these emotions come from, how I can reframe them and what they tell me about my current idea of success. Like many of us perfectionism is a friend I know all too well, one that has contributed greatly to my fear of failure.
"Everything has to be perfect, first time round, no excuses."
This simply isn't true. And for a long time I've allowed the limiting belief to stop me from trying. From simply snapping a product photo on my iPhone, or having a chit chat on our stories. Not every product image needs to be taken by a professional camera and edited to perfection, not every chit chat needs to be carefully thought out and scripted.
This week I've made a promise to remind myself that when I feel overwhelmed by the fear of getting something wrong, to take a breathe and to do it anyways. When we do this, we live, we experience and we learn.
So what's your current idea of success? For now, mine is simply showing up.
Ask yourself this week, does my idea of success allow me to grow? to experience new things? to celebrate when I show up? and if the answers to these questions is no, I challenge you to make a promise to yourself, to feel the fear and do it anyways.
If you're in comment below challenge accepted!!
PS: As I was writing this caption I couldn't help but think of the spring collaboration we had with the amazing . A good start definitely does make a good end!
