After months of keeping this dream-project a secret, I can finally tell you all that I’ve been working on some jewellery for the V&A museum’s new Marie Antoinette exhibition. It’s been a bit of a struggle juggling this collaboration after just having my second child, but I knew down the line it would all be worth it!
On Monday me and my family finally visited, and as some of you may remember I have been a super fan of the Sofia Coppola film for a long time and have previously referenced and designed Margaux collections around it. The shoes and gowns designed by Milena Canonero & Manolo Blahnik for the film were definitely highlights for me, including the white duchess satin frilled gown with fuchsia tulle popping out of the skirt (from the infamous ‘let them eat cake’ dream scene), to the neon fuchsia pink silk two-piece with grey fur trim and matching pink hat. You need to see these garments up close and in real life to appreciate the artistry. But frankly nothing compared to the insane diamonds on display. While previous Sovereigns before her wore jewellery to appear more powerful and intimidating, Marie however wore them for her love of fashion and beauty.
Inspired by Marie’s personal jewellery collection; I designed two pieces exclusively for the exhibition which are available to purchase at the V&A shop and also on our website. Seeing the full Margaux capsule collection on display in the museum was wonderful, including some of our best sellers like the Agatha necklace, and our mini pearl bow earrings. Let me know if you visit and what you think 😘
