A bit of a different one from me but something thats really important to discuss.

Su***de Prevention month. I dont really understand but we do need better awareness and more funding for mental health services.

Well ill be honest i wasnt expecting this. The start of this year was incredibly difficult for me. I was in a dark place, it was the 10th anniversary of losing my son in second trimester, I was sectioned after a su***de attempt and I genuinely did not see a way past that time.

Somehow I got through it and while Im still trying my best to get back to me ive found new friends, new buisnesses and more importantly im finally seeing the light through all the broken pieces.

I met people who I thought would just be good buisness opportunities and networking that I know will be friends for life Glentrees Funeral Service

Then these. I've been shortlisted for 3 women in buisness awards

Inspirational woman in buisness

Solo entrepreneur of the year

Small buisness of the year

And somehow this makes 6 shortlisted awards this year and its honestly blown my mind

I want to say a huge thank you to the amazing people who support me every single day and not just my customers but those silently watching and liking and sharing. I see you. I appreciate you.

I had the privilege of making this beautiful ring for my customer last week containing the ashes of both her nan and her grandad. She chose a beautiful green for her nan as she was Irish and complimented it beautifully with a pearl for her grandad. I loved how this turned out and the little hint of green really makes it pop.

I know ive spoken briefly on here about the loss of my best friend in February. We were friends for over 20 years and we had been through so much together. Highs and lows. There were times like in many friendships we may go a while without seeing each other but when we did meet up it was like no time had passed at all. We grew up together as teenagers, making up dance routines while we were at college, stewarding carnage bar crawls, testing the boundaries with our parents, going clubbing, dressing questionably 🤣, dancing til we couldnt dance no more, becoming parents, and growing as adults.

We got each other through some really tough times especially with our mental health. Id drive to hers at stupid o'clock in the night/early morning just for a best friend hug. She would come to mine to tell me how much she loved me. She was a huge support to me and getting my buisness up and running and always pushed me to do whatever I wanted.

I miss her so much. I take very small comfort in knowing she back with her mum who she missed so much.

We shared a love for tattoos and we always said we would get matching butterflies but you always think youve got more time.

When she passed I knew i wanted to remember her in my own way and while ive made jewellery with her ashes and I cherish that I wanted to carry out our promise to each other and get a butterfly tattoo.

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam, and for a
brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world:
but then it flies again. And though we wish it could
have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it.

I miss and love you everyday KB.

HOW YOUR JEWELLERY COMES TO LIFE… 💫

Have you ever wondered what actually goes into creating a piece of jewellery?

It’s a lot more than you might think… ☺️

It all begins with a CAD design, where every curve, measurement, stone setting and tiny detail is carefully created digitally. This stage alone can take hours, with several tweaks and revisions before the design is just right.

From there, a master or wax model is produced using specialist 3D printing technology, before the piece begins its journey towards becoming real jewellery.

The wax pieces are carefully assembled onto a casting tree and surrounded by a special investment material. During the burnout process, the wax disappears, leaving behind a perfect impression of the jewellery design.

And then comes the magical part… ✨

Molten silver or gold is cast into that space, turning the original design into precious metal.
But even at this stage, it’s far from finished!
Each individual piece has to be cut from the casting tree, filed, cleaned, refined and carefully polished by hand. Stones are individually set by a skilled stone setter before the jewellery receives its final polish and quality checks.

So while modern technology such as CAD design, 3D printing and specialist casting equipment plays an amazing part in jewellery making, there is still an incredible amount of traditional craftsmanship, skill and hand-finishing involved in every single piece.

From an idea…
to a design on a screen…
to a tiny wax model…
to the finished silver or gold piece you eventually hold in your hands

Quite a journey for something so small… and something that can ultimately mean so much. 🪽
