Matt with one of 15 carp safely removed and relocated further downstream on the Regents canal. This 800 MTR section of canal was fully drained to repair some of the hundreds of years old brickwork.
Lots of other fish species were also re located including big Eels to 5lb, Tench to 4lb, Bream to 5lb, Perch to 3lb and Roach to 12 oz.

A Fish rescue in a lock chamber, wow look at all that rubbish and silt build up 🤢.
Well done to the MEM team on successfully rescuing just over 120lb of quality silver fish which included Roach , Perch , Ruffe , Gudgeon, Eels , Bream and pike.

A stainless steel Fish/Trash screen that we designed and fabricated for a client, to stop tiny fish getting trapped or lost down a Culvert when the valve is operated. 🙂😀👍🐳

What a wonderful Roach !(Rutilus rutilus)
without a doubt the most common fish species that we find in todays rivers and canals.

Here is a lovely 8oz example, which was part of a 250lb haul from a Northern Canal, that needed to be fully drained to have new lock gates installed.

what better way to start it, than with a clonking Eel. Just look at the size of this incredible specimen caught on a fish rescue.
An interesting fact........
Did you know that the European Eel migrates all the way to the Sargasso Sea to reproduce, incredible stuff !

Here at MEM Fisheries we don't just rescue Fish ! 🐳 A lovely stone path we are installing for a fishery. A few more similar jobs booked in the diary, then it is the winter carnage that is upon us.
with Full Reservoir draindowns and massive canal rescues over 2,500mtrs long ! safe to say it is going to be another full on, busy winter.
