Castaway Gems Unique Sea Glass Jewellery and Coastal Gifts made on the Isle of Wight. Uk post only About Me
My name is Wendy Bird and I have always loved the sea. Wendy

Strolling along a beach collecting, driftwood, shells and pebbles is my idea of heaven. I am lucky enough to live on the beautiful isle of Wight where all these things are plentiful. I love the challenge of crafting jewellery from each piece of sea glass I collect. No two pieces of sea glass are the same so every item is special. Some pieces are drilled with patience and precision, some are loving

ly wrapped in sterling silver wire, some are enhanced with Swarovski crystals and pearls. Each piece is unique. I hope you love them as much as I enjoy making them.

I think the simpler something looks the harder it is to do! That surely must be a Japanese proverb! 😆

Spending a rainy day rock wrapping! I’m teaching myself the Japanese art of Ishi Musubi, a meditative form of wrapping pebbles and stones with cane or cord. You need patience, it looks easier than it is, as with all things Japanese!

I haven’t made any sea glass jewellery for such a long time now, nearly forgotten how to drill it! This is a simple little heart pendant made with rare blue sea glass found on the shores of the Isle of Wight, slightly tweaked with the Dremel to make it symmetrical, drilled to add a jump ring and then attached to a sterling silver chain. It was commissioned by my grandson to give as a present and I really enjoyed making it!
